Wiring tape Engine area

Just want to get the forums opinion on these 2 pictures.

Noticed that the tape does not cover wires close to the connector. I’d assume the tape (especially the silver thermal tape ) was protecting wires from engine heat. Look forward to comments.

Looks pretty standard for automotive wiring harnesses, not that it's ideal.

If you're concerned about it you could use a high temp electrical tape, but it's temperature limits are in the 360 F (H range).

The insulation is there for where the wiring crosses hot stuff, or the black friction tape just to keep the bundle clean and from getting rubbed/cut by corners. The connector isn’t at a hot location - otherwise the plastic connector would be insulated too, or moved to a cooler location.

Feel free to tape it up though if you want it to look better

Welcome to the Ford Motor Co. There is little doubt that some bean counter calculated how much they’d save by eliminating a couple extra inches of electrical tape at the ends, and it was approved. I’m still a bit stunned at how they terminated the aux switch wires.
