Winch placement and intercooler air flow - any concerns?

Yep! I‘ll be following this one.

I‘ve yet to find a winch bumper that meets my needs (flat towing compatible) where the winch doesn’t block the airflow to the intercooler. The Ford Performance winch might fit the bill but the price of that for what you get is way out of line and it blocks the camera, as would all solutions that don’t block the airflow. I’d rather have the former issue than the latter, the camera seems like it’d be way easier to move.

My guess is some will run winch bumpers that block airflow and state everything is okay while some will argue against it. Ultimately there will be Bronco specific solutions developed (I hope) to move the intercooler or improve airflow.

The searching I’ve done on 6G hasn’t turned up much other than discussions without definitive solutions but based on Google searches on the topic this intercooler issue with winch bumpers (and cameras, ACC, etc) seems to be something the Raptor guys have been dealing with so maybe some of them can weigh in.

Air flow disturbed by a winch and bumper to an intercooler is a 100% non factor. If that much air flow was required, nobody would be able to rock crawl at 1-5mph and have power. Folks completely blanket cover the grill during the winter on their turbo diesel trucks and semis for engine and heat warmth, the result is nearly zero airflow, yet they still have the power to pull their advertised loads.

This is a great development to see! Moving that IC up higher will make bumper design so much simpler and also allow for a skid plate with better approach angle. Sign me up!
