Update: I installed my ARB single compressor, using the 4x4 LED bracket. I'm taking the OBX non-SAS High Package with AUX light switches to the Charleston 4-Wheel Parts store for wiring. The subject will come up re installing an extended air chuck outlet, and possibly a more remote air intake.
This is a stock plastic bumper, and I'm mostly a beach sand driver, I'll upgrade tires & a 1" lift with shocks long before I'll need or want any bumper upgrades.
1. I initially planned to open the hood to air up, and installed hood struts to help. I've noticed that the ARB compressor gets Very Hot from the engine, so I'm wondering if opening the hood is best anyway!
2. I really like the IDEA and operational efficiency of a remote air attachment/chuck on the front of the vehicle. Does my photo mark the correct location of the shutters I must avoid? Are two attachment points I've marked possibilities? Any warnings or dangers.
Suggestions or your installation?
3. Intake. Until I noticed how hot the compressor gets just from engine operation, I had dismissed as frivolous the idea of a remote air intake from a cooler location. Now, I'm not so sure. Paradoxically, with the heat, I'd end up opening up the hood for cooling even with a remote outlet!
Thoughts and advice?
Update: in the end, I went with a simple install, with output on the compressor. The Charleston 4WHEEL Parts store did a really nice job wiring my self-installed ARB compressor, using #1 on me Bronco upfitter switch. The $75 ARB air handle is really nice. 4Wheel Parts spent about 2.5 hours of shop time on the wiring, cost me $250. I've done a fair amount of boat wiring & electronics install, but here I don't understand the wiring, nor the purpose of the two relay switches, so I'm glad to pay someone else to do the work.
