Why so many used Wildtraks?

Love my 2023 Wildtak. Wanted the hoss 3.0 I don't rock crawl. Mines a forest service road riding/ beach buggy. Just hit the 10k mile mark since purchasing in June. Never reset Trip 1 average since new 19.5 mpg. Check every tank and regularly get 20 to 21 mpg.. That's with trip 2 resets and often by calculator never more the a couple of tenths difference than the screen.

I'm seeing many used Broncos finally being listed for $3-5K under original MSRP. This wasn't true 6 months ago.

I'm also seeing MANY new Broncos sitting on the lot. For ones at MSRP they take a week or two to sell. For those with markup they can sit for 3+ months or more (like my abandoned order).

I paid MSRP for my Black Diamond a few weeks ago. It was a special order that someone placed and they changed their mind I guess....only had a few miles on it from a few test drives is all, and I think it was only there for a couple weeks at most. But you're right.....I've definitely seen a lot of new Broncos on the lot that are sitting. My advantage was that I did NOT want a SAS package but I knew the Black Diamond was the sweet spot for what I DID want....and I think it's still underrated. I also got the special Azure Gray color with a 2.7 so I think I did well getting exactly what I wanted for MSRP.

I’m thinking it’s because our leaders are slowly becoming successful at beating down and eliminating the middle class. The people that 2-3 years ago could afford 60k of a vehicle can’t anymore, priorities.

It was pretty obvious that ugly times were coming, the only variable was the timeline. We shot ourselves in the foot when we essentially shut down the economy... At that point, it was just a matter of time.

The damage is going to last years.

I’m not sure that I can contribute much to why so many Wildtraks are available but I can explain how i landed on the Wildtrak trim and how I like it.

I live in Southern California where desert and fire roads are plentiful. I also really like to go to Utah with my family a few times per year. When I started building my Bronco in 2021 B&P had all sorts of quirks to it. As soon as you added things like the 2.7, Sasquatch pkg and high or Lux you usually ended up at a Badlands or Wildtrak trims. So for my area with where I wanted to learn to off-road the Wildtrak was perfect.

As for how I like it, this thing is amazing! I have the 2023 Wildtrak at a 2021 price and absolutely love it. It completely surpassed my expectations and I plan on keeping it for a long time! Even my 4 year older daughter loves riding in it

My dealer has had a bunch of 2dr wild tracks lately. But they're 2.3s and have a sticker that says engine made in Mexico. Didn't the 2.0 and 2.3 used to be made in Valencia?

Wildtrak's only come with the 2.7.

The 2.3 is manufactured at Ford's Cleveland engine plant and as MNBigfoot pointed out the WT only comes with the 2.7.

What someone said about people thinking they were a soft/cushy type family vehicle. And, drum roll please, they just can’t afford them. My dealer said not uncommon for $1,200+/month payments for people buying Bronco’s. He’s seen plenty of $1,500/month payments recently.

I can't believe people can afford a payment like that! That is just insane. My monthly payment is like 1/4 of that.

My biggest gripe with the used Wildtraks (aside from no 7spd) is the carpet/leather. I want plastic floors and vinyl.

This forum scared the crap outa me, thinking I was buying a giant flawed, and cheap truck-I love my OBX SAS, and giggle every time I am in it-I think the seats are comfy, and do not think it is loud on the road, or highway-you will love it once you pull the trigger

I was assured my 2.7L would detonate at 500 miles after delivery but 13k down and still enjoying every green light.

My totally unfounded speculation is that people ordered a Wildtrak as a high end luxury, awesome offroader to be used as daily driver.
EX: a cooler looking Grand Cherokee Limited.

Most people ordered them without ever seeing one in person or test driving one.

When they finally got it they found out it really lacks in the luxury aspect.
Cheap plastics, rough ride (compared to what the expected) and loud (tire and wind noise).

Exactly this.

Its kind of a turd for the price point. There are other capable 4x4 off road capable vehicles at this price point that do offer far better luxury features, and you could actually have a phone call in them driving down the freeway.

I'm extremely disappointed in the build quality for the price point, and there was no option to test drive one prior to ordering. If I knew it would be such a turd, I would have ordered a base line Bronco, or just gone with a Defender.

To your point, cheap plastics (all over the vehicle, including the hard top) and wind noise is really, really bad driven at speed. My 65 convertible has less wind noise than my hard top Wildtrak. The ride quality I don't have any issue with, quite happy with that.

WT was not the trim for those options. Would be more like a BL or BD. No 7SPD in a WT because they all have the 2.7 engine.

The wind noise is loud enough on my soft top that I'm actually considering mud terrains. Figuring how much worse can it really be?

The Bronco is not for everyone but it must appeal to a broader segment than the hardcore off roaders or off roaders in general. There would be no Wrangler or Bronco in that case as there would not be enough units sold to justify their existence. These trucks spend the majority of their lives maybe all of their lives on road. Some have said they should buy something else. if you want 4A go buy an AWD Subaru. If they do that the production line will be closed in a year or two.

There are a lot of reasons people bail on there rides. Cost, gas, not what they expected but rather than shoot the messenger, some of these people should be addressed.

In my case I have ordered a 2024 OBX non-Sasquatch. It is nearly my perfect ride but inexplicably they prevent me from paying for 4A as I was able to do in 2023. It is not a cost issue and waiting is the Bronco middle name. 4A is ideal for the majority of Broncos on the road but the last place you can get it. My wife will be taking her Subaru in bad weather days in order to not deal with hopping between 2H and 4H. That is not acceptable to me for the GOAT truck. I would likely be in my OBX a long time but the missing 4A might see it in the used lot sooner or even canceled if what I want in a 2023 comes by.
