ethernet cord - question is where does it go ?

The could be's are endless.

As others have said could be for a radar detector, a display for a remote camera. Is there any evidence of a 2 way radio having been mounted in the vehicle, it looks like the connection between a radio and a remote control head.

Omg. That’s literally my first thought. It looked like something that hooked up to my grandma‘s phone.
Wow, my hip suddenly hurts and I need to go yell at clouds now.
And could it be this is what the cord is for?
It's the latest rage, having a car phone.

it is definitely ethernet cord which does not have power in it, so whatever it was was plugged in separately

v1 now has a usb connection available- I assume with a voltage step up to 12v. I’m gonna ditch the the rj connection and hook into my Mabett dash rail usb socket. Can’t wait- running rj cord to the console was a PITA and ugly

How do you know it does not have power in that line?... Is there something you are seeing that I am not? I have a number of devices that utilize power over Ethernet. First thing I think of is my entire camera security system. Every one is POE.

That's an RJ-11 jack used for many data applications and old Ma-Bell home phones.

Most Broncos have a wireless modem onboard to receive OTA updates. You appear to have an earlier dial-up modem model. You have to plug yours in at the house for Ford updates. Huge PITA…trust me!
