Wanting brighter reverse lighting on my 24 Heritage.

Currently have the LED taillights and wanted to just get a brighter reverse light. Tooke it all apart yesterday and it seems like to replace the "bulbs" in the taillight, turn signal or reverse light one has to replace the whole thing.. OEM looks to be about $1200? Did I just not tear it down far enough?

Get a rear bumper with lights. I got the Turn Off Road Zero series and then replaced those lights with Rigid lights but I’m sure the ones they come with would be fine.

You are correct. The LEDs are integrated and not serviceable/replaceable. So if you want more brightness, then you need to add extra lights.

If you have the trailer tow option, then a hitch light would be the easiest solution. I don’t have this so I can’t speak to how much light it adds.

Harbor freight cube lights about $35 each last time I checked. They will work fine for many years (mine are over 18 years old)

I installed a small Rigid Flood under the bumper and switched to an accessories switch. Not sure if one could wire to existing backup lights directly or through relay.

You can't change anything in the tail lights. It's all built in.

But we have some options for extra reverse lighting. Check out our bolt on kits that give you some lighting. You have two styles. Spare tire mounted versions and under the bumper ones (which are easier and quicker to install).

Same concept as Baja Designs only with Diode Dynamics. The lights have a red back-light that is on when the lights are on and automatically go into the bright white light when you go in reverse.

I assume the mount itself is attached with the lugs that hold the wheel on. But what about the wiring? Are they just like Deutsch connectors that can be easily disconnected?

No difference honestly. You remove the 2 bolts that hold the light assembly and the spare. Then move the assembly out of the way (there is a wire that you disconnect behind it). Then you remove the 3rd bolt to get the spare tire off. So it takes maybe an extra 15 seconds.

Depending on what kit you get it's either a DT connector (Diode Dynamics) or a WP connector (Baja Designs).

The Baja Designs kit operates from your upfitter. HOWEVER we sell a pigtail that plugs in-line to the factory tail so if you contact us we can give you a parts list which will let you run it off an upfitter AND/OR the reverse circuit.
