Each of the Mobil 1 oils meets or exceeds the Ford spec for my 2.7.

I used the Mobil 1 in question and bought a Ford filter (included all O-rings) plus a drain plug, and paid $62 for the whole kit. Amsoil has a kit with their "Extended Life Protection" oil (one step down from their Signature) plus their filter (complete with O-rings), no drain plug, for $102. That's $40 extra, plus drain plug. And I still wouldn't go more than 5K miles on it. So yeah, a small fortune.

I have another 10K miles before I have to worry about this, but now I'm curious to see what the full synth Mobil 1 costs.
BJs (a warehouse store in the Northeast) currently has Mobil-1 5W-30 Full Synthetic 6-quart case for $26.49.

I don't thino I've seen a Top Tier sticker on any Bucees pump. I still fill up with their 93 and the Bronco loves it. I get more "miles to E" with bucees gas vs. Shell 93.

I wonder why that is.
Ethanol? Ethanol can lower gas mileage, not sure if that is the reason for your findings.

I feel like the frame will probably rust away before the type of gas we buy makes an appreciable difference for maintenance, but I go back and forth between thinking Costco or Shell is the best choice. Costco does the most volume so there is probably less chance of contaminated fuel or poorly maintained equipment. Shell probably has the better additive package with their V-power premium but they’re so expensive that the shell stations are like ghost towns where I live. I wonder about the age of the shell fuel and the maintenance of the stations as a result, She’ll stations here are looking derelict.

I’ve been using 90 octane shell v-power since that’s the highest octane we get in my state and have had pretty good oil analysis wear results. On the other hand my wife uses whatever is the cheapest grocery store gas in her Bronco and it’s about the same on oil analysis. I also put a bottle of Techron complete fuel additive in the last tank of fuel before an oil change.

This is across the road (not street) from a college campus in a tiny town. It's a bodega, really--with Shell pumps out front.

I'm sure it's Shell gas in there. I'm also sure I will continue to use Costco.

After all the posts about the quality, I got a Costco Membership. It didn't take much arm twisting. Honestly, my biggest hesitation about shopping there is the fact that the parking lot is always so packed, I worry about door dings. I normally park way out nowhere near other cars. Hard to do when all spots are taken. First world problems?

I always park away from the entrance. Fortunately the Costcos here have wide parking spaces. I try to park at the end of a row and on the right side of the car next to me if I have to park next to someone. I also try to avoid going on busy days, ie., weekends and Fridays. They' also seem to be less busy in the early afternoon. Ask your local store when they're the least busy.

If you fuel at Costco regularly, the gas savings will probably pay for your membership.

And yes, I park in a remote spot. I don't mind the walk. It's my practice to trolley one, maybe two, shopping carts that are loose in the lot and push them into a corral, just so they don't ding me or anybody else.

I have the Executive membership, combined with the Costco Citi card. My annual rebates pay for my membership and then some. With the Citi card I get an extra 5% cash back on gas at Costco. The trick is to never use cash at Costco. I even cash the Citi rebate check at Costco and use the cash elsewhere. I feel like I'm being paid to be a member.

There's SO much more to a Costco membership than going into a warehouse.

I will have a Costco membership even if I never go back to a warehouse. In fact, I use my Sam's membership much more for warehouse shopping.

But a couple years ago, after State Farm tried to fist me with a rate increase, I discovered Costco's insurance vendor deal for Costco members. And while this might not be the case for everyone, switching pretty much set me right back to the price I was paying before State Farm said "bend over, here it comes".

And with the Executive Membership, they guarantee they won't drop me. I'll believe that when I see it, but still.

Then there's the superb Kirkland fuel. And the auto purchase program. Oh--and pharmacy! Although, technically by federal law anyone can use the pharmacy. But only members get member prices.

Not everything Costco touches turns to gold. But enough of it does, at least so far.

This right here.

And long spaces. Although, frequently not long enough.

I always park my GTI at the outer end of the space, maybe even sticking out some from the back of the space. There's usually 10 feet or more of the parking space, empty, in front of my car when I park.

This is so I can find the damn thing when I walk out of the warehouse. I identify as an F250 crew cab long bed. That way when Brandon and Braydon and Brendan's mom parks her I-Can-Tell-U-Ride next to my car, I stand a chance of seeing the ass end of my car as I walk out the door.

Or just take them all the way in.

Back when I was 4 years old, my mother trained me to return the carts all the way into the store. I'm a human being, so I do that to this day.

don't you just hit up the Citi app and drop it straight into your bank account? You don't even have to wait for the Citi rebate check to arrive. Once it's issued, it's in your Citi account and ready for you to deposit somewhere.

They started that about 2, 3 years ago.

Now, the 2% executive reward, that's a different story. You have to exchange that, one way or another, for merchandise. There's no turning that into cash.

I abhor going into Costco for pretty much any reason. Same thing with WalMart

But I do have a membership and do find value in it. Just not in visiting the huge warehouses full of people standing in lines.
