If the TCU handles the wi-fi radios. I welcome some updates. The disconnect of Wireless Carplay is CLEARLY to due to 2.4Ghz interference. Every time I drive through this spot Carplay completely disconnects. The faster I go through it the better. If traffic is backed up my radio completely shits itself and the best resolution is to power off your phone and wait till your about a mile past that spot. I grabbed my wife's old Pixel to test and the problem persists with Android Auto as well. If Ford would simply let us make that connection over the 5Ghz radio I'm pretty sure the problem would go away. This is reproducible EVERY time. It also happens further up the 405 about two more spots and a few places along I-15 in Escondido.

Dude, if you drive through that area regularly, I feel for you in ways that have nothing to do with CarPlay. (I can only imagine how much worse it is since the time when I lived not far from there.)

For me, it was the FordPass app that first notified me of the pending 6.3.0 update. I have not yet updated so it continues to appear anytime I open the app. Additionally and at least once per day, anytime I start the Bronco I receive a request to update on the startup screen on the infotainment screen.
Is there anyone else out there that has received the notice to update to Ford Power-Up 6.3.0 or am I the only one thus far???

I wouldn't use FordPass to make updates or changes to the Broncos. Bluetooth is a pretty flaky unreliable interface with lots of glitches. At home we have a stereo receiver on the balcony with outdoor speakers. To listen music from the indoor stereo I use bluetooth stream on the balcony receiver. Going thru the wall it's only 3-feet away but the bluetooth still has short hiccups - several per hour. Imagine what all those glitches could be doing to your Bronco config
Vehicle updates use your home WiFi setup. Also, in software, we have these things called fingerprints. It's a simple way of verifying that the data matches what it should be. Even a single byte different would fail.

APIM updates are supposed to install automatically. You don't need to give them consent (other than just starting the truck). Send me your VIN and I can check PTS to see what's going on with it.

I live north of the 40th floor and my vehicle is parked 3 floors underground in a concrete and steel garage. Pretty sure my vehicle and my home WiFi are pretty unaware of each others existence. Despite that I have had updates successfully pushed to my Bronco.

Just responded to your message. The OTA is hung up at one of the first stages of the OTA process. There is a problem between the handshake between truck and the mothership preventing the update from going to the verification and download process.

Thanks again! Activating wifi and will attempt the download now. I'll check back in hopefully when "update successful" is received.

I should have mentioned that you can also get updates through the Bronco's cellular modem, but I was focused on the "Bluetooth" part of the post I was responding to. Ford suggests it's good to connect to your home network for updates, and I'm not sure if that has more to do with them saving cellular data, of if they consider it to be faster or more reliable and a better first choice. Either way, you are correct--there is more than one way to skin that cat.

Updates for your vehicle do not go through FordPass - you can get some notifications via FordPass (sometimes, when it works) - but the updates themselves go either through the on board cell modem or local WiFi if you connect your vehicle to it - or FDRS if all the other things don’t work right.

But you respond talking about WiFi. WiFi is not bluetooth. FordPass requires a phone. When you pair your phone to a Bronco it's using bluetooth. Not WiFi. To my knowledge
The vehicle can hop onto your local home wifi to download updates faster, and it can also use its own cellular modem. It also has the capability to use that 4G LTE cellular modem with a plan to provide a wifi hotspot to other devices.

If your phone is paired Bluetooth to the vehicle, and your phone supports either Android Auto or Apple Carplay, the vehicle will share with the phone a private wifi network and wireless app projection happens over wifi.

I won't comment much on FordPass, it CAN directly integrate with the car, but its not very useful in that regard. Most folks use it for remote lock/unlock/engine start and nothing more.

You seeing this @Ford Motor Company ? Multiple Bronco owners getting impacted at the same spot on the road every single day.

A lot of people use FordPass to make changes or updates to their Bronco config. Maybe not software downloads
Like.... I guess you can remote start, or lock/unlock. Maybe roll down the windows.

And...

Used to could change the zone lights. Used to could upload service records

Not really change so much else that I'm aware of though.
