Have you been in a recent one? I had a 1999 Acura TL 3.2 about 20 years ago. That car was immaculately built.

Counter point, I've had a couple of recent Honda Accords as loaner cars (strangely always from my Land Rover dealership when they ran out of Land Rovers to give out since everyones' was broken waiting for parts ). They just didn't have that same solidly built feel.

I know comparing an Accord to a Acura is not that fair. But we also had a bunch of mid 90s Toyota Camrys that I remember had the same sort of feel to them. Everything just felt put together perfectly (with reliability to match).

Great car. Only sold it because I needed AWD/4WD.

Acura is still making pretty beautifully put together cars, I'll give you that (same with Lexus). I just think the mainstream brands (Honda and Toyota) aren't quite what they used to be.

I almost got a MDX Type S a couple years ago but the wife didn't like it for some reason...

Roundabouts were amazing in that thing. Torque vectoring AWD can be even better than a RWD biased system from a fun perspective.

Just for everyone saying what's the issue if you can drive it?

I moved 2 years ago to the US from Canada and brought my Bronco. I've not been able to import it cause the recalls. I got a green card before I could fix the all the recalls on this thing lol

Thanks for sharing, and excuse my ignorance --- So you moved to the US a couple years ago and brought your Bronco, but you have not been able to import the Bronco due to recalls.

So... where is your Bronco physically located today? If it's in the United States (since you brought it with you) is it just not registrable?

Again, I'm ignorant to Federal import/export laws, but we also had a thread last week from a Vancouver individual who simply did not possess basic communication skills.

Yeah Bronco is here with me in the US (Arizona) so I can't just do a day trip back and reset. It's still registered and insured in Canada so the plates check out. But in legal terms, after 365, it has to go back to original country if it isn't imported.

Can't register it in the USA cause you need a title and I can't get one without an import doc. Among other things to get the import doc, I need a letter from Ford saying there is no active recalls.

If I got pulled over and someone had a slow day, they could check it's been in longer than 365 and seize it. It's insured in both Canada and the USA, but I'd image that would be a huge pita in a worst case scenario.

Awesome first post! Obviously you're emotional. Please EXPLAIN EXACTLY what you mean by "taking a sh#t", and what specifically were your two other transmission repairs since December.

Huh could have sworn I posted here at least once before. The first time it was making the grinding noise many people have. It was a bad synchro #5 which they replaced. Several months later the grinding came back. Went to the dealer and they replaced synchros 5 and 6. Fast forward to last week the grinding noise is back again along with a metallic humming noise which sounds almost like a turbine engine. I crawled under it today and the housing is covered in red transmission fluid. I’m calling the service center tomorrow. Nice

Well, Ford didn’t build the transmission and maybe you need shifting lessons. I know that sounds harsh, but that many synchronizer going bad with one user screams that you’re grinding gears when you shift. Or there’s another issue like the clutch is not fully releasing, which is possible.

This is my first Ford, and only my second American brand car. I've had 20 vehicles in my life. Honestly, nobody makes them like they used to anymore, even from just 5 years ago. When I realized this about 18 months ago when starting my car shopping routine, I decided to give the Americans another look, and very happy that I did. I would love to replace our Merc GLS with an Expedition if I could (a) convince the wife and (b) teach her how to not park it in our dining room (too big). But I sure do love them now.

Hey, at least we're not all driving around wondering if our airbag is going to randomly go off in our face with shards of metal in them anymore.

In terms of "infotainment" and "tech". All I ask is that the car has Apple CarPlay. I can take care of the rest from there. I don't really care if it's wireless or not. I love the large/square screen in the Bronco too. It's my favorite screen of all cars that I looked at. And it's simple / easy to use! I don't need a techno-kid to show me how to use it. Unlike the wife's Merc with its dual iPad mini screens and damn buttons on the steering wheel that are far too sensitive. Honestly, it would be safer to just read your emails on the blackberry while driving 100mph in traffic than having to figure out what just happened by mistake and how to get it to go back to what was just there. All of this "tech" has become mostly just silly crap that ends up owning you instead of you owning it.

The wife's Merc has three outstanding recalls on it too. Until its breaks, they will remain open. You think Ford dealerships are a problem? You ain't seen nothing like Mercedes Benz. They're the worst that I have ever come across, by far. At least the ones in my area. Key to owning one of those cars, is knowing who the local Indi mechanic is that works on them. I can't tell you how many times I took ours (I had one too) into a MB dealership for a repair, only to come out with two more. Simple stuff. Replace the ripped seat cover, end up needing a new rotor on the back wheel because the dust plate was bent and scrapping across the rotor. Have the little trunk lip spoiler reattached on the corner because of a carwash (basically just a little more 3m tape), end up needing the whole trunk lid repainted due to scratches. Bad TPMS sensor in the rear passenger wheel, comes home with a nasty door dent on the driver's door. On and on and on and on..

I’ve been driving manuals for 20 years and have owned 6 manual transmission cars. I’ve never had this issue before so it’s quite the stretch to imply it’s bad shifting

Man I hate this type of response. Driving a manual is pretty simple and only takes a bit of practice as my 19 year old caught on in one day and doesn't have issues grinding his civic. To assume that an adult that ordered a manual transmission vehicle and can't drive a manual is pretty ignorant. You have to be a pretty terrible driver or totally untrained to be grinding gears with a functional manual transmission.
