… I am in the process of adding a winch too just one through

You didn’t mention $$ But I found Egis they supply marine and emergency vehicle modifiers/ companies

I am using a manual switch, but they offer a remote switch (and a dual switch) all rated @ 500amp

They all come with a 10mm post and deep enough to help connect your 2, 2/0 awg wiring…

Fords Warn winch is directly negative connected to battery, your two wiring should be able to connect to that bus … one on top of & one below. I would use 90* neg cable ends to help manage space.

Would be interested who’s 500 fuse you are using?

Egis change their small size sales to distributors

No need to add another bus.

Thanks for all the feedback, here is a revised diagram

changes:
- added bus bars
- moved 500a fuse so its after the isolator
- smaller wire gauge in engine bay

No idea where im going to fit the bus bars, but that is a different problem.

I’ve seen someone had a nice bracket that goes over top the battery.

Over top the fuse panel is ok but it needs to be mobile if you go there — there is room in the fender there to tuck it, and that’s a nice spot.

Up by the firewall by the brake booster is a nice spot too, but a bit further from the battery

I was hoping to not have to pop the hood to turn on the winches, is there a down side to using the aux switch as the cut off?
As noted - No downside as long as you are using something (Aux, relay, switch etc) to energize the winch because most are simply hard wired to the battery and can be powered without a key. And, since we are digressing to catastrophic incidents, a front end collision or event that could create a short on the hot wire could be problematic if it’s always energized. I am out of Aux switches so I installed a manual switch under the hood to turn on the winch.

most of the good spots are already taken up 😄

Regardless of method between relay and manual switch, either is better than how most run their winches. Assuming the power is off.

OP I got a tray from American adventure labs that tucks up by the firewall and holds a square distribution block nicely. For the grounds I put them next to the fender on the supporting structure. Adhesion promoter and quality 3M double sided tape will hold those without issue.

only odd thing I ran into was the battery lug didn't make good contact with the terminal so I added a copper washer (which is just a lug trimmed up, here is a photo for reference

it is yeah
It’s probably fine, just check your specs and AIC. In a worst case scenario the factory battery might be able to exceed the AIC on some of the ANL fuses sized appropriately for a winch.

Just a heads up I'm running a very similar fuse for my two winches. Blew a fuse for no reason a little over a year in. I think the fuse just got tired or something. I replaced it with a much pricier Blue Sea Systems fuse and it's been good ever since.

I just looked up the specs-AIC isn’t listed and no UL certifications listed either. Personally, I’d get rid of it.

Well that's iteresting... 🤔
Still have the original spare. Maybe I'll swap it in and keep the Blue Sea one as a spare.

Sometimes fuses just go bad - there is a reason most things switched to resettable circuit breakers.

But cheap Chinese fuses seem to go bad a lot more often than decent ones.
