Agreed, I do understand the attraction of a longer 2 door Wrangler though if it makes the Jeep (front solid axle) cruise more stable. I got rid of my 2 door Wrangler as I couldn't stand the cruise instability. The Brronco independent front end takes care of that. I also prefer the short 2 door Bronco.I got the 2 door for the short wheel base. When I am loading gear in the back seat area I wish I had more doors to get stuff in there. But I have never wished for my two door to be longer.
You are right, I had not thought about the stability on a wrangler. That would be a benefit to a longer wheelbase, it would ride nicer on the highway. But even then I would like to have easier loading of gear with more access points of 2 more doors.Agreed, I do understand the attraction of a longer 2 door Wrangler though if it makes the Jeep (front solid axle) cruise more stable. I recall seeing an FJ45 in China, the long wheelbase troop carrier but only two side doors instead of the usual four.Curious how many would buy the two door if it was on the LWB four door platform?
I would in a heart beat.
If they made a longer 2-door that looked like a modernized Gen 2 ('78-'79) I'd buy one. I loved my '79.I'd probably buy one. It'd look more like the Gen 5's with the LWB, IMO.
