This is just flat out wrong. It will automatically shift into 4 High. It is not an AWD system. People will get themselves into trouble if they think it is AWD. Some people on the message board already have ended up on their lid by making this incorrect assumption.
I don't think they slid off the road because they thought it was "awd".

Maybe. Idk.

This would argue otherwise...

4a is just like 4hi until you turn the steering wheel all the way to one side or the other then it goes to rear wheel drive till you start to straighten the wheel back up than it sends power back the front just like it would be in 4hi. Toggle to the drivetrain power output gauge on the dash and see for yourself.

Considering I have never owned a vehicle with a 4x4 system like this and my salesman said exactly nothing to this affect, was it actually too much to think my vehicle could turn in four wheel drive?! For the experts out there, I apologize for offending the four wheel drive gods.

Well suggesting you RTFM isn't showing too much offense, IMO.

I don't think anyone is offended. You just need to know how all this works before breaking something. Thankfully you didn't break a CV like some on here already have. 4 wheel drive is only for when you need it. Wheels have to slip, especially while turning, to use it. Hopefully you get a chance to get off road and put it to use.

Okay I put my truck in four wheel drive for the first time today. When I turn my steering wheel hard on either direction going forward for backward from a stop my truck comes to a sudden stop when I release the gas. It does not act that way in two wheel drive. Something is definitely off and doesn’t feel right. Any thoughts/ideas?!
I told my doctor "it hurts when I do that". He told me not to do that.

That’s not how it works.

She will just hop like a wounded crow in the dry parking lot, until something breaks that is.
