Yes Loading to lighten tongue weight is a common mistake which promotes sway, especially noticeable and sometimes tragic going down hills at highway speeds. Sumo springs will help reduce squat but will reduce articulation off road.

We pull one of the campers you mentioned (2018 T@b 320s boondock) all over the country and Rocky Mountains (>25,000 miles on camper, 24,000 on 2024 heritage).

the V6 has enough power for well over the frames limitations of 3500lbs, but that brake controller will save your butt in a tight spot.

Not exactly plug and play. It’s a fairly involved install (remove some center console parts, mount box inside). You can find the install instructions online pretty easy. We paid someone to do before we took delivery of our bronco for warranty purposes.

The one on the redarc is the same as the one on the Ford site, but I think the Ford one doesn’t have an always on light.

And don’t bother with the curt wireless brake controller. I have one and it wears a pain to use with keeping your phone and the app open while towing, plus the brake was a pain. And it seemed to be more sensitive going downhill due to inertia sensor, and locked up my trailer brakes several times.

and when I bought it, you didn’t need to sign in to use the app, but they changed it at some point in the last two years and now you do, which really ticks me off.

This is why I always suggest if there is an option for an ITBC, get it. Granted one wasn't available from the factory for the Bronco, but I'd always go with something that integrates over an intertia-style one if it's available.

Although, now that I think about it, the wireless controller worked pretty well when towing a 3000 pound camper with the Bronco.

I didn’t have issues until towing a 5000 pound camper with a grand Cherokee.
