If i had an auto I would be in manual mode anytime in 4lo.
I forgot to mention that this is while using manual mode. It's actully better in auto mode because the transmission starts out in 2nd gear when in 4L and I haven't had a situation where it will downshift into first, so the terrible 1-2 and 2-1 shift is avoided. However the 2-3 amd 3-2 shift isn't great either but it's not as bad.

with the majority being odd or argumentative.
really now.

No, I won't back down from people spewing shit. "The majority"? Really?

And what does the number of posts have to do with anything, other than your trying to make something out of nothing?

And aren't you being "argumentative" here?

Every transmission has the potential for failure depending on design, driver, and usage.

My grandpa had an old Dodge Omni with a 4 speed, he didn't need the clutch except for stopping/starting because the syncros were so bad.

My parents' 1990 Suburban (700R4) lost the reverse sun gear 3 times, each time 120k miles apart.

My dad's 1994 GMC dually with I believe the New Process manual, 5 spd (low + OD - early build), shredded itself after almost 200k miles. The rebuild lasted 2k because a LOT of parts were no longer available so the rebuild shop used the 'updated' numbers that weren't as strong. He finally went with a used transmission identical to his original that was still going when he sold the truck.

I had a '98 Grand Prix GTP that shredded the 3rd gear clutches. No warning just wouldn't go into 3rd anymore.

With so few manuals on the road today, most repairs are going to be automatics.

I'll go way out on a limb and guess the comment by @heavyD may have been based on your prolific posting of over 750 messages in less than 2-months, with the majority being odd or argumentative. I could be wrong.
This might be why he's banned on vwvortex?
