Weird. This is the actual service manual. Shows new seal. Maybe there is an update.

Oh my mistake. I was referring to the advanced transfer case which doesn’t have that seal.

The part number for that seal is AB3Z-7482-A

Looks like it’s just a crush washer

Motorcraft Thread Sealant with PTFE: TA-24-B is what Ford calls for on the plugs.

Really any type of thread sealant would be perfectly fine. I’ve never had any issues or leaks just putting the plug back in without adding anything.
This is correct and here is the maintenance procedure - @pakrat + @redone17

This sealant from Permatex would be fine too and likely easier to find:

That’s so interesting that there is such a different procedure and plug situation for the Advanced 4x4 vs Part Time transfer cases.

Thanks for the part number @Ducati1098

The only thing I forgot to add was always remove the fill plug first (not the drain plug).

Though perhaps not an issue on a model as new as ours, I've seen where the fill plug required some serious persuasion to come out and had it not come out, it would have been a rough day in Red Rock...with no way to refill it.

Yeeeaaahhhh…I’m gonna find a solid substitute for that washer. $13+ a piece? Ford, you wack.

Perhaps THESE

EDIT: I did some research and found on the Ranger 5G forum (the benefits of owning both) that someone did some precise measurements and it’s M18x24 - so, while the above link might work. THESE seem to be the winner. I’ll add the link to my original post.

Looks like Permatex 59214 and 59235 are the same product just different volumes.

So what’s the difference between high-temp and PTFE?

Sure. When I get to the office. It is exactly same as the one posted above though. Only diffecence is the sealant on the 4A and the washer on part time and the volume. 1.3 qts for part-time and 1.6 for 4A. Also the drain plugs are torqued to 26 lb/ft for the part-time and 18 for the 4A. Procedure is identical.

Good call on the 4A torque. I’ll update my original post.

Got around to doing mine yesterday. Got a little under 48 oz. out. Pretty close to the 51.2 required. Probably the quickest fluid change I've ever done.
