I'd also add - if you are getting hardware, I'd go get the proper 16mm bolt/nut (grade 10.9) so it catches in the housing properly too - will make putting it back together a lot easier.
Oh I missed the point being the bolt head or nut would be the correct size sorry.

Okay, so there IS a spacer missing, right? I’m hitting up ICON to see if they can send me one, or point me in the right direction because I have no clue what I’m looking for.

So true about the shop. This thread is started with a different issue caused by them - when they went with the smaller bolt they used a smaller nut that doesn’t “catch” on the little nut-stopper in the very first picture. That lead to a series of other issues. But why would ICON include the 5/8” to 1/2” sleeve/spacer in the first place?

This whole thing has left me pretty frustrated - all for a little trackbar relocation, too. Nothing even fun!
To be clear there should be 2 spacers. One on each side of the spherical rod end on your track bar. Guessing they have the same spacers on the other end also.

Yep fortunately there is a spacer on one side. So I just need to solve for the other side.

As Brian B said earlier stacked flat washers will do the same thing as a thick spacer.

Certainly noted. It’ll always make me a bit anxious, though.

I think I’ve found the right part. This 5/8” Heim Joint Spacer https://a.co/d/apLF66E

I am fairly confident that the gap is 1/2”. Fingers crossed.

Just want to thank you guys again for helping me through this disaster (dramatic, I know, but frustrating).

The flathead tip is what got me out of a jam with the first step.

Today I received the 1/2” spacer, bought some galvanized flat washers just in case 1/2” wasn’t right. Luckily I did because the correct spacing was more like 5/8” I was able to fit one washer with a teeny bit of space, but that space filled in by the time I torqued the bolt.

Anyway, now she’s done and it’ll probably only be a few weeks before I’m done thinking that something will be breaking. I just don’t know enough to know when something’s done wrong until it breaks. But that’s life!

Thanks again!

Off roading is a series of upgrading something. Breaking something else. Fixing that. Rinse and repeat

Oh, and adding more lights in between those times where you fix or upgrade and you break something.

As B22-2023 said.....Great job! So in the end, was it ICON, RJ or Ford that didn't supply the right parts? Mine was done at a shop, but I cannot remember what I saw when I opened the box from RJ.

In the end I believe it was the shop not providing me with the extra parts (spacers). It was one of many small issues I had with them. It's just tough when you don't have the right tools.

Gootcha. Ugh....Nothing worse than a bad shop. But in fairness - a master mechanic once told me that "regardless of what shop you go to, none of them will be perfect." I try to keep an open mind with stuff like this....#try. Hahaha!!!

Next time use the money you would have paid the shop for your own tools. It will be much cheaper in the long run to do it yourself and you'll know it was done right!

That's where I disagree. Quite often I think I know how to do something, then watch a 5th tutorial and realize I missed a step that is so well-known to mechanics that it's not even outlined on "how-to" videos. "Don't know what you don't know" can be very costly working on these expensive cars. I didn't mind as much on my old F150.

Undoubtedly true advice. Without it I wouldn't have gotten through this minor debacle.
