Towing Recommendations - Personal Water Craft

I use a 2" drop with my 2021 badlands 4dr 4x4 to trailer a Seadoo that's 960 lbs dry weight (no trailer). The problem is, i'm unable to trailer without taking the spare tire off. Both 2" and 3 1/4" drops do not leave enough room between the coupler and the tire. The tire blocks the coupler from being able to open fully, so I can't get the trailer on the hitch.

Does anyone have suggestions on best approach that allows me to trailer my ski without having to take off the spare?

Hook the trailer up with the tailgate open so you can close the latch, then close the tailgate.

Or convert to something like a lock'n'roll.

4 inch drop is what I done with a Sasquatch and jon boat
Someone makes an longer receiver that should work as well

Here is a link for many lengths of extenders. If you go longer... you can push out your trailer hitch enough that you can open your tailgate without hitting the ski's hand crank.

tongue of trailer is short and tailgate sadly needs about 1-2 more inches to clear the winch stand when closing it. Lock'n'roll seems ideal..I don't fancy drop hitches or extensions. thanks Ty

With an extension, the coupler would clear the tire and I wouldn't need to open the trunk anyway.

I had bought one a while back but never used it. I think a lot of extensions really shouldn't be used to tow, but rather be used for bikes and what not. LocknRoll as mentioned above is probably a solid option. thanks Gary

Yeah 4' drop would be plenty. coupler would clear and level is fine with 3' 1/2"..just need to get one. might do that or locknroll. thanks Lucas

I had to mess around with opening the rear like 3" to latch one setup, and then closing it once done.

I was sketched to use an extension with my Sea-doo trailer, i have a 2 up with weight , and then you drop the tongue weight specs in half with that extension.

I think i got a 4" drop, you can not see the ball in the camera, but i made a magnetic piece to allow me to see where it is. even with the 4" dop that trailer latch does touch a little but you can jiggle it down while you crack down the trailer. the trailer also sits level with my OEM SAS setup

I use a longer drawbar rather than an extension. The product linked below allows my sled trailer to hook up no problem (stock non-squatch badlands with factory 33" spare). It also does not create as large a vertical lever as some of the drawbars with a big drop. Somewhere on here is a thread where someone ran into problems towing a trailer with their bronco with a drawbar with a big drop number. It twisted the frame cross member under the load of a hard stop if i recall correctly, so be careful...

This is the thread I referenced. Lots of normal B6G arguing and whatnot but worth a read. It looks like it may have only bent the hitch and not the cross member, but the point about big leverage force with big drop drawbars is still valid.

Interesting idea hooking up with the tailgate open first. I’m going to try that. My tailgate will open once I have it locked down…it’s the lock that gets tied up with the tire.

When I was in a bind I connected the receiver to the trailer and the. Put the receiver into the bronco hitch. Took some finesse but worked for my application. Wouldn’t want to do that every time!
