Thin paint on doors?

My wife and I recently purchased a 23 4d bronco used. 16,400 on the ODO when we pulled it off the transport trailer. Officially had it a week and the "new" has wore off.

While cleaning today I noted on the inside of both driver doors the paint was thin.

Per Ford GSB 23-7003 it should be warrantied, but I don't know what I should do. I don't think it necessarily is an issue, but it's a nearly $60k SUV. I just want some opinions. I do also have a steering wheel on the way, as the original has leather that wasn't stitched in. (Covered over 3/36BB) I'll discuss with the service department as well.

What exactly do you expect to be warrantied here? It looks like it's maybe a bit light on the green base coat but it's still got the clear coat layer and it's the door jams after all. As long as the paint isn't wearing I don't see a problem. You have to accept that a $60k Ford isn't going to have the paint quality of a $60k BMW or Lexus or you will never be happy with the paint. My Tesla Model 3 performance door jams weren't even painted as they were base white on a red car. Just google Tesla model 3 unpainted door jams and those aren't cheap vehicles in the performance trim so how much you pay doesn't always equate to great paint.

IMO, yes it's thin, but I would much rather have the factory applied paint instead of letting a dealership try to repaint it for me. The chance of them messing something else up or having mismatched paint/panels wouldn't make it worth it to me.

Don't get me wrong. You should be disappinted as in this modern age manufacturers should be able to do a better job coating door jams. It's just that long term the factory paint will always be more durable than aftermarket. When it comes to repainting over newish paint for minor stuff you have to think long and hard if it's going to be worth it long term.

lol, I'm chuckling because there will be an adjustment period with a bronco where you come to terms with expectation vs reality. The quicker that happens the happier you will be. I still struggle with it on occasion.

I don't disagree. To be fair, it's not external, it's not hurting anything, and 98% of the time, the door will be closed and it won't be seen.

It's just wild to me seeing this. I've noticed it a lot on vehicles made in the past 8ish years. Dad's girlfriends jeep has thin paint on her tailgate. Several customer superduties have thin paint on the door jams, and I've seen detailer posts about this a lot more lately.

Meanwhile my nearly 30 year old mustang with 140k miles on it has better paint coverage from the factory than this thing...

Ask yourself this, can you live with it the way it is right now? Or will you be able to live with it when the dealer resprays it and it doesn’t match? Personally I’d let it go. It’s not like it’s the outer door skin.

Visible pinch welds when doors are open is far uglier than thin paint near a rivet. Leave it . Better than someone attempting a secondary paint bond. Unless you take it to a very good show car painter. I have OCD and take the Bronco for what it is. Cool looking and fun. Everything is overpriced except old school Aquafresh toothpaste for a buck at Walmart.
