Has anyone else had issues with significant paint wear on the tailgate where the seals contact? I haven't heard that many squeaks and rattles, but I'm noticing paint rubbed completely off in a lot of places (photos in a sec). I'm running stock size tires, albeit heavier than the OEM Goodyears. There's nothing else on the tailgate other than a table (which is pretty light).

Some of the scratches are on me (cargo/etc). But the rub patterns that exactly match where the seals contact seem suspicious....

I'm still under 30k (barely) and have an extended warranty regardless. Is this worth asking about?

There’s a TSB for the paint wear on the top edge. It’s due to an accumulation of dirt between the rear window seal and tailgate.

I had this happen on my badlands. I just touched up the paint then added a clear xpel strip over the top lip of the tailgate to take the wear off the paint.

So does ford do anything about it as when I wipe the window rubber seal that touches the tailgate, it’s blueish from paint ruboff.

I’m surprised Ford is TSBing any of it since it’s just from dirt on seals

I touched it up with paint and got some adhesive rubber door edge molding and problem solved.

had the same issue because of the rubber matt. Tuffskinz on Etsy made a custom protector for our Bronco, it’s nice has been holding up really well. If you contact them they will make it how you want. I didn’t like the Xpel, too thin and they only have it in clear.

What is the remedy for the TSB? I’m out of warranty and have an aftermarket hard top but have this issue.

Basically just a strip of clear mylar tape on the top edge of the tailgate

I was going to suggest stickers, but this looks better. Mine has been scrapped up from cargo, but not enough to bother me to start a sticker collection yet 🤠
