Just wanted to throw this out there for anyone getting the rear swing gate table accessory installed. Please let your installer know to use a drill depth guard.

Unfortunately mine was installed today and now I have an extra drain hole in my vehicle. The bit went all the way through the exterior of my rig. My installer now knows some new words he may have never heard before... so I thought I would share my woes here while I wait on a body shop to get parts that are on backorder to replace my rear swing gate.

On another note the table itself is pretty awesome and super tight fit so no rattle possible. The rigid sticker is just there to keep the hole covered until it gets replaced...

No rattle? I'd seen some say lots of rattle and turned me off of it. Was leaning towards a molle grid instead. That'd be great news.

Sorry about your woes though. At least it's not a major repair, and shouldn't be on your dime. I'd still be pissed.

These installers must be using an awfully dull bit with a lot of pressure. All the more reason to do your own mods.

Ouch!….that’s gonna leave a mark. Hope it gets resolved to your satisfaction.
For something like this I do the install just to be safe. As it happens, I am picking up the tailgate table tomorrow and installing it this weekend. (..and yes, I do have a drill depth limiter which will be used). ;)

I bet he won’t do that again. I hope the replacement is a perfect match.

Dang. That sucks. Seems to be happening fairly often with these tables. I had the dealership install mine on Tuesday and they did a perfect job thankfully. No rattling or drill marks in the tailgate.

How much did they charge for install? Mine’s been in the box for months because I’ve heard the horror stories and been waiting until I need it, but if the price is reasonable...

Also, does it rattle?

That is some installer. Too bad. Hope he takes care of you on it.
An easy depth stop is to slip a socket over the drill.

It took a few hours and cost a few hundred dollars total but I also had the pod lights and underbody lights installed at the same time along with an oil change done. The underbody lights are what took the most time to install.

No rattling whatsoever. You can’t even tell it’s there while driving.

This was professionally installed.

I think the moral of the story is to make sure they’ve done this install before, or at least make sure they’re aware of this issue. I wouldn’t depend on a Ford service department to figure it out, perhaps too late.

Well you know we all want to see these underbody lights in action…..
