I view the whole duck thing as some attempt to feel some sense of 'community' with other jeep owners. It's brilliant marketing for whoever came up with that nonsense. People who ordinarily wouldn't buy a jeep will do so because of that sense of community. They're spending a lot of money to get someone to wave at them or to leave a rubber duck on their car. It's the affirmation that they are included and not rejected. It makes them feel cool and special to be part of something 'bigger' than they are, and I don't think that they really understand that not everyone is looking for that quirky sense of community and in fact, finds attempts at it being shoved down their throats to be highly annoying.

Six pages of this nonsense?? Good grief, just relax and drive your Broncos
Kinda just the nature of humans these days. Bronco with all kinds of ridiculous crap bolted on to it that achieves a look of performance will get ridiculous amounts of attention. When in reality it performs worse than stock. Then you’ll have something that’s truly impressive but not covered in stickers and adhesive-backed carbon fiber, requiring onlookers to actually know what they’re looking at- Meh. Moving on. Or talking shit. Had a dude talk shit about wifey’s ride. Called her out when she referenced it as a “build” because she has stock wheels. And of course, homie’s “build” was puck spacers, fake beadlocks with 37’s, and some lights.

Wait-what are we talking about again? 🤔

Crazy thing is it wasn't even a marketing attempt by Jeep, it was an organic phenomenon started by a girl in Canada in the middle of COVID. Sadly she passed away recently. Weird for anyone to feel it is "shoved down their throats". They are just little colorful little piece of rubber that folks are using to try to make others happy. Lining up every one someone has received across their dashboard is kind of geeky, but it is wild to me that some seem to be offended by it all.

Most Jeep owners are wanna-be’s. They want to be recognized for what the drive. They go to the mall crawler event in Daytona so they can show off their ducks.

I’ll talk to someone all day long about Broncos. But keep your hands off my ride. I have severe leg injuries, so I park in handicap spots when able and if there is enough room for me to get in and out of the cabin.

Parking in those spots creates a lot of issues. Folks seem to think it’s ok to look in the windows, run their hands over the truck body and pull the covers off my ditch lights to look at them.

These momos get offended when they get yelled at when I see them. I even had an idiot ignore me when I tried to get in my Bronco. He was looking in the driver’s window when I came up. I asked nicely for him to move so I could get in to leave. This idiot had the balls to tell me to wait until he was finished. I quick body check solved the issue as I’m handicapped and “fell” into him. Gee sorry dude but I’m handicapped and lost my balance.

Keep your children’s toys and give them to child in need. I don’t want them.

She was a Wrangler fan and sadly died before the bronco came out (if I’m not mistaken); clearly didn’t know the 6G would become a thing. You don’t think it’s a bit disingenuous to try to use her as an excuse for Bronco owners to try adopting it as a thing? I can appreciate the idea behind spreading happiness, but again-leave the ducks to the jeeps. And if you truly appreciate what someone has done with their bronco, hang out for a minute to see if they’re interested in talking about their mods.

Getting back to the ducks and the marketing comment from earlier-Her parents turned the whole thing into a revenue stream, then started attacking people that didn’t buy the ducks from them directly. The money is more important to them than honoring their daughters original intent. Seems the whole thing has been bastardized.

She died June 2024. She got to see the G6 Bronco. If her family is protecting a business and trademark she created, a trademark that is her legacy, that is what an estate executor is supposed to do. I don't know any details on it or see anything with a quick search.

I think it is kind of weird for folks to get uptight and offended by others trying to find something to spread joy.
Jeeping is a community, Bronco owners have had a community and are rebuilding with the G6, off roading is a community. Vinn Diagram encompasses a lot.
If someone is messing up your truck, opening doors, or taking off covers, that is a reason to be offended. If they are blocking you from accessing your truck or getting in/out of a parking space, definitely something to justify being irritated about.
If they are admiring your truck and happen to get finger prints on it, a vehicle meant to go wheeling and get dirt all over it, you should probably get over it. If they leave you a toy to show their admiration, take it as a compliment.

Now that the Stroppe is being discontinued, I see a great opportunity for Ford.

Make the DNT(Do No Touch) Edition with a purple top (a nod to the states that have purple painted top portions of the post to indicate "No Trespassing". Sounds like a solid market for that based on this thread 😅

Well sure it’s gonna get scratched. But I decide when that happens. Not some idiot wearing 3 rings damaging the paint. I don’t consider it a compliment when people do that stuff.
Admire it from afar. Just like do with other people vehicles.

Society today thinks it’s ok to do whatever they want. And most think everyone is ok with they do. Like my ride so much? Go buy one of your own.

I was mistaken, I thought she died in 2020. Either way-a jeep fan. Continuing a trend that she didn’t start. It was not something she trademarked nor had any rights to.

Well said. I get they're just trying to brighten someone else's day, but some of us are introverts of introverts. The moment I leave the driveway, I want to be avoided in all ways possible.

Thanks China virus. Thanks Canada. 😑

Some day the aliens are going to be cleaning up after us in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, wondering what the hell is up with all the deranged rubber half-duck / half-other creations wearing little fucking cowboy hats and shit.

It's not a random act of kindness - to seek out crap, purchase boatloads of said crap, bring the crap home and affix additional flair to the crap, then stalk any and all vehicles like yours, to pass the baton of crap to others. It's a very intentional self-serving thing to drive around like a crazed lunatic with bags of crap at the ready.

bUt ThEy mAKe pEoPLe sMIle!

You wanna make someone smile - because their vehicle is the same as yours? Huh?! What gives you the right to mess up a perfectly blissful, somber private moment in someone's life? So you can sit nearby all giddy, hoping you can hold your bladder until you get home from all the excitement?

My mood is not a medium that I wish to have irresponsibly and haphazardly altered by random idiots with bags full of little rubber assholes. You leave your shit on my shit, I get aggravated by your act of stupidity and throw it aside, and you get butthurt things didn't go your way. Now your little shits are sad, which makes you mad. All that wasted time and money spent - for nothing!

Actually, I just smiled thinking about you getting butthurt and then mad because your little shits are sad. You know what? Leave the duck. 😂

Growing up in the 70s-80s we spent all summer outside unsupervised. We played tackle football, baseball (stickball) with a tennis ball, basketball. When it came down to picking teams the kid with the fancy new cleats was always picked last. Watch out for the kid with the holes in their shoes. Times have changed.

I took my Bronco to the car wash yesterday and there was another Azure Grey Bronco (Sas 4 door) in front of me. He told me he liked my truck and that it looked like a little brother to his. That made me smile. Maybe I'm old school, but a thumbs up or an old fashioned "cool truck, dude" goes a long way. No gimmicks are necessary.
