I asked for a Starlink mini for my birthday coming up and I'm trying to figure out the setup that will work best when I've got my hard top on half the year. I see a lot of posts about how it works through the MIC hard top, but I've got the painted hard top, and I don't seem to see any threads on that (maybe I'm missing it?).

Does anyone have a painted top and Starlink? How are you installing it? Any tips would be great. :)

Pic of her in her summer top for attention (I use the soft top in Winter here in San Diego).

DM me if you don't get an answer. I can test it on my wife's Bronco next week, HLE with painted white top. I just pulled the Starlink from my soft top Bronco for my kid to take camping this week for emergencies. I have a feeling it's not going to work well with the painted top.

Thanks! I will keep that in mind. :) I agree there may be issues, but I'm crossing my fingers, haha.

It works no issues. I just have it lightly strapped on one of my storage bins. No even very close to the roof. I plug it into my Jackery which is plugged into the cigarette lighter. 2025 Stroppe painted, wrapped, ppf.

Awesome, thanks!

I have the Mohave mount too and black painted top - no issues. As a side note, if you use the cigarette lighter for power you’ll need a voltage step-up cigarette plug to 20V. I tried powering it with a new 100W PD Anker plug and it kept dropping because the Starlink Mini does not negotiate required power from the cigarette lighter adaptor like a phone or computer. StarGear makes a 20V and 30V style and Starlink OEM makes one.

I was looking at the Mohave mounts (both the roof and dash).

Thanks for the inverter info, I'm def. going to have to read more about that.

I have the hardtop but not painted. I bought the Hooke Road Half rack which fits perfectly for the Bronco as it attaches to the sides of the roof. I attached to metal flat bars painted because the roof rack is aluminum. My starlink sticks to the flatbars using the 4 magnets. I've been offroading and highway speeds and the magnets are definitely very strong. I hard wired the starlink cable to one of my aux switches coming from the cargo area.

‘25 Heritage with painted roof. Starlink Mini mounted to M2M top self—inside near roof liner. I can access the Starlink in my house with the Bronco parked out front.

Nice! Sadly, I don't have aux switches. May add them later (but then where will I put my sunglasses?! lol /s). Also switch back and forth between soft and hard top, so I haven't done too much looking into racks bc it seems like it would be a PIA when switching.

I've heard the magnets are pretty good though. I don't think I'll need it while driving, so I can probably be a little less anal about placement than I am. The half rack looks nice.

Oh nice. I've thought about the shelves, which one do you have? Looks like they have a couple. I have a couple other things form M2M and the quality is great.
