I'm looking for a solution to power my starlink mini. I want to use it in motion, and at rest. I'm thinking of connecting the antenna to a power station, and then connecting the power station to the 12V. I'm guessing folks here have already solved this and may have a better solution. Thanks!

I adjusted the rear cargo power point to 30 minutes and use a USB C laptop adapter in the power point and a USB C power cord for the dish. For me that covers 95% of what I need it for - mostly at a restaurant or stopped for lunch or something.

For the rare time that I need it more than that I do have a power station I plug it into, but I only switch it when I absolutely need to.

I did the same things as Brian_B. Then I purchase Star-Batt, so it is a pelican case with a rechargeable battery inside...works off standard 12v cig adapter...just have to mount it to my roof rack for on the move...but this made charging and using easier....but on the move more complicated.

I used the EcoFlow Delta 2 w/ the EcoFlow alternator charger attached to the vehicle battery. With the EcoFlow App can toggle power to the Starlink and Delta 2 and not loose power.

Just curious, how are you mounting your antenna/dish?

My setup is a roll bar mounted Revolink mounting bar and quick disconnect bracket, Bluetti AC50B power station secured to cargo shelf. Power station plugged into 12V outlet to charge while in motion. Starlink connected to Bluetti via USB-C. Ran the cabling along the mounting bar and it all tidied up nicely. Has worked perfectly so far.

Have you used the ram mount with the top off? Doesn’t seem strong enough to withstand wind at high speed. Thanks

I used the American Adventure Labs packout mount and powered it with the cigarette lighter. Worked on the trails last weekend.

Did you notice if the 12V lighter power adapter ran hot? I tried using the power adapter that Revolink sells (here) and it got very toasty connected to that rear cargo 12V port. Maybe you can suggest one that works well and doesn't cook itself when plugged into the 12V power port?

I didn’t touch it so can’t confirm directly, it never alerted me of an issue needing to shut down, but I’m using the overpriced Starlink lighter power adapter from their store. Figured it’d be worth getting their approved one since I want to run it for extended periods.

It’s great to see that setup! I’m going for the same on my 2 door. Had to tap the hole for the ball, but luckily it’s the perfect size for an m10x1.5. Currently waiting on my “free” mini to arrive. I’m not 100% sure I will be able to orient the dishy quite as nicely, but we shall see.

planning on just running from the rear power point. I have a 300Wh power bank that can charge from the bronc while it’s running.

I had that same one from revolink that got pretty toasty. I ended up breaking it though by twisting it in the socket - upon deconstructive investigation it had a very small gauge wire leading from the fuse to the usb circuit and twisting had torn the solder mount off. Given that it was such a small wire I’m not surprised it ran hot. Originally I had thought my socket had given out like all the power station users here had posted — my power point was fine though.

I got an Anker adapter to replace it and it doesn’t run nearly as warm. Still warm but not hot. Have to make sure it supports high current USB C, but there are plenty that do.
