I have a weird one.My speed sign reader works fine on all major highways like interstates going north and south. But going on anything else it defaults to 30 mph.East west works fine.Have an appointment for the dealership in a week.Anyone else having the issue?

Maybe I'm missing something... but uhh.... speed sign reader? What's that?
When driving your vehicle the car reads the speed limit signs and posts it on your screen so you know what it is wherever you are.My previous bronco did it and so does my2021 f150

I am guessing that it does that because it doesn't know the speed limit so it just defaults to that. Maybe an update would fix it. Personally I just use CarPlay for GPS as it is much more advanced in my opinion.

Does it "read" the speed limit sign or does it just take the speed limit from its GPS maps? I am assuming the latter, therefore if there aren't speed limit data for a particular stretch of road, it defaults to a conservative speed limit.

Your GPS communicares the speed limit based on map data. You don’t have a sign reader
The front camera (IMPA) detects the speed limit signs. From the workshop manual:

Speed Sign Recognition

The speed sign RTT indicates the speed limit recognized by the system as the current posted speed limit based on the last posted speed sign recognized. The IPC uses speed sign recognition data provided by the IPMA .

Edit: Ignore all this. Workshop manual information is incorrect.

Works on all other vehicles

See @Ducati1098's post. He is a Ford tech and knows his stuff.

I too thought it was GPS based but was wrong.

The Bronco does not have speed sign reading, no question about it. If you have ever driven a Ford with the advanced co-pilot stuff, it is unmistakable. It sucks because its an awesome feature that works great, and the lux Bronco has all the hardware to do it. There is a thread on this forum where some trailblazers have figured out most of the Forscan settings to enable the intelligent features like stop and go ACC, lane centering, and speed sign reading, all of which we dont have.
