Speedometer Not Matching with GPS Speed

Speedos often run 1-3% high, and it is not directly linked to the odometer reading

Do we have any documentation of that? That was my worry that my Speedo being off by 2MPH also meant that I'm putting on more mileage than what is actually happening.
