Looks like a 4-door Bronco (minus ~8ā€) but with only 2 doors.
Ford Bronco SLATE Truck Debuts as Modular SUV & Pickup IMG_2148

after watching the videos, I appreciate the modularity of the design and the tailgate rear. Only RWD tho.

Long-term, I can see these being fleet vehicles that are everywhere at Home Depot, airports, etc. for short haul trips or DoorDashing. Simple, cheap, long-lasting (I'm assuming LFP batteries).

I don't think they will be mass market personal vehicles.

I feel like Slate will be like Iridium satellites... first to market but later on you have SpaceX/Starlink eat their lunch.

Cheap yes. Looks like a parts bin vehicle covering many decades.

Everyone on the internet asks for simple items like crank windows. No one buys it new. Everyone will buy a used vehicle that is nicer for their price point. Niche vehicle at best. RWD only as well makes it an odd choice for a "truck" look. Love the concept though, love to have an SUV the rest of the month and change it out for a pickup on the weekend for some plywood moving or bark mulch hauling.

I think it's awesome, and there is absolutely a market for this, the Maverick proved it, but Ford couldn't keep the price down on them. If Slate can really keep the price down they will sell...

IF!

Cute little ranch truck. Maybe a highschool kids first truck like the old days, RWD is all you need for doughnuts and drive-thru's. OTA updates and bluetooth CarPlay is all kids care about these days.

I'd be interested if I had some land, I like it is not upscale like Rivian tries to be. I have a soft spot for old 2d hardbody mini trucks, though I don't really fit in them anymore.

If they last long enough for the aftermarket to make stuff for them they could be cool little trail gear trucks. Design looks like they copied hard from Broncos and the VW Scout 2.0 trucks coming in 2027.

Love it for around town. Love rwd. Love the simplicity. Honestly at this price point it’s about perfect for my daily commute, parking in a city garage, and running errands from the hardware store or taking stuff to the dump. I’d get a ton of use out of it and keep the other vehicles for long distance comfort for the whole family or going off-roading and camping.

I just don’t see the timeline for reservations to order to delivery anywhere.
