Only problem with using aluminum with a steel vehicle is that you are potentially setting up a situation where galvanic corrosion can weaken one or both of the dissimilar metals. You don't want to do this without understanding the possible consequences. You would be better off using something other than aluminum unless you are sure that can isolate it from direct contact with the steel.

If I remember all you can get is the transfercase plate. Fuel tank plate is N/A. Need to check tomorrow to be sure.

Yes, all your trophy trucks are using aluminum for the weight savings. The steel skids on my truck have become a rusty mess after 3 winter's, so I'll be looking at aluminum, or making my own. I've got a bunch a prepreg carbon sheets laying around. If I have the time a might make some carbon fiber skids and skin them with 4mm aluminum for scratch protection.

Makes sense, but doesn't, typical Ford.

Because Ford doesn't want to keep skid plates under Chassis/Frame. These are the 2 door fuel tank skid plates.

Seeing that the skid plates run $540 from TASCA, it makes the modular bumper look like a pretty great deal at $825, especially on the 4 door which IIRC doesn't necessarily have the gas tank protection like the 2 door models do (I could be wrong about this).

Yep, that's the one place I screwed up on my order. I underestimated how expensive aftermarket bumpers and skids would be. And how ugly they would be, especially since these companies love to laser cut their logos all over their products. No thanks.

The skid plates will run over $600 with shipping and it appears the MB3Z6G079A / MB3Z6G079B brackets are technically required (another $120) though I'm hoping I can just cut the tow hooks off my brackets and use those. If not, I can fab those easily enough but creating all the skid plates from scratch looks like a PITA.

Parts catalogue is showing plates not available for body E5A/E5C, both 2 door. You can get the accessory kit that has all 3 which is kind of a waste since you already have the front one. I don't know that the difference is with the one under the engine/trans/transfer case between the 2 and 4 door. Maybe nothing but 4 door plates look like they are available individually.

@flip is there any way to confirm the front 3 plates are the same between the 2-door and 4-door? I don't know why they'd be different. The prices and shipping are the same between the two kits even though the 4-door kit has a massive extra box with the fuel tank skid plate so I'm considering ordering that kit and selling the fuel tank skid plate on here to help offset the cost since my 2-door already has one.

Anybody interested in the 4-door fuel tank skid plate if I do that?

Levittown has good pictures of each kit at the links below. Comparing the two, I do notice extra metal on the 4-door engine/differential plate around the rearward bolt holes. Also, the 2-door one shows 2 holes next to the slots that the 4-door one doesn't have. The front plate on the 2-door has two slots the 4-door one doesn't have. In fact, that 4-door front skid looks plastic?

Is there an auto transmission skid plate for the 2 door yet?

I have my VIN (not built yet) for a WT. I have the MOD bumper, so it comes with the front bash plate. You can now add the full armor from the factory (but not after you have a VIN). My question is this, "Can you order the rest of the armor/bash plates and have it DIO? Anyone already done this?

I maybe missing something about the skid plate issues, idk...

I have a WT, 2dr and it came with the fuel tank skid plate and front skid plates so I would think you're good till some decent aftermarket bumpers n plates come out.

I just bought a rear diff slider from these guys...and they make a skid plate from front bumper to tcase:

I found that the Ranger rear diff cover from Ford Performance won't work with Broncos because it hits the track bar under deflection (that is confirmed directly from Ford Performance). I believe I will have ample protection with stock cover and slider.

The RC hidden winch mount and skid plate actually does a nice job of replacing the factory plastic skid and when combined with the tow hook kit, more than ample protection of everything covered by the first factory skid plate and works well with the stock bumper. So I really need to make only one other skid plate, which neqr as I can tell will be a flat plate with a few holes for mounting to protect from the end of the RC plate back to the transmission and transfer case.
