I was out in some pretty mild off road conditions (mostly gravel roads) and at regular tire pressure (39psi) and got a flat. Found a hole (although nothing indicating what caused the hole) so swapped to the spare. Got home and tried to plug the hole and then found another leak. Plugged that one (which was more of a pinhole) and then found even more pinholes. So tire is shot.

These are the stock Goodyears with almost 23k miles on them.

Now the conundrum, I'd like to replace them with K03s but they won't be available until August.

So do I get another Wrangler as a spare now and get the K03s later? Or get a set of something else now and hope the rest of the Goodyears last another couple months?

The conservative (but expensive) solution would be to get a new set (of something good, not Goodyear) now, even if it cannot be the KO3 you want, rather than running any more risks on the present set. If it were my rig, I would not want to take the chance that one or more of the remaining stock tires are in the same condition as the one that blew. When the time comes, the KO3s will still be there waiting.

So far, I am not a fan of these factory SAS tires. I have <1,000 miles on them and even with front IAG mudflaps I got a rock chip on the driver door rocker panel (I have ordered the Ford Rocker Body Appearance kit to alleviate the problem).
I drive on a gravel road a number of times a week and when I get off it an on the pavement it sounds like machine gun fire.

I am coming from a gladiator which had a number of problems, but I did like the Falken Wildpeak factory OEM tires but they were 33's, not 35's.
They were smooth/quiet/snowpeak rated etc and I never had the rock problem.

I am hoping i don't have flat problems. I need to compare rolling weights on the Wildpeaks and do more research on the KO3's.

The one thing that I don't know is how many more miles the rest of the Goodyears will last. At 23k are they almost dead or will they last a few thousand more?
I'm currently at 40k on my original Goodyears and fully expect to get another 10k out of them and do the same swap once they release a 35x12.5-17 KO3.

I like the OE Goodyear tires. They did great at Moab for the off roadeo. They grip, last for me and fling rocks. Plugs are fine. You could put in some slime for the pinholes.
Slime, and other products, may mess up the TPS. Read the label first.

Well, it turns out that @Discount Tire, didn't have my tires when I showed up this morning. So I had to pony up more money for a set of KO2's which I really didn't want, but at least they made me a reasonable deal on the KO2's. Still, not what I ordered or wanted... But I have to leave to go back to Florida in a day... So... Not many other options.

Easy fix, they just wanted more of your money! lol
Probably. Our local Discount Tire said company policy prevented them from patching a hole that big for liability reasons. Agree, it may have been a ploy to sell us a new tire, but they also told us any number of local tire shops would have no qualms patching a hole that big. Our call. Decided to play it completely safe and replace it with a new tire.

Slime says it's compatible with TPMS. Tire people hate cleaning it up.

I used to be one of those tire people.

I still recommend it to people because I've seen it work in a variety of situations that got people home.
I'm not saying it doesn't work. But I bet you didn't like cleaning it up. :)

What are the chances that the KO3’s will actually be available in August? My guess unless you have an inside contact that wait could get long.
Your bad tire has to be replaced as it doesn’t sound reliable. Something must be significantly wrong to have that many holes in a modern tire without driving over a police stop strip.
If you think you can really get the KO3’s in August then I’d vote for any similar sized spare possibly even a used tire as a temporary replacement.
