Road noise?

Now, with a car like this, I'm definitely not expecting it to be a quiet car, but I'm don't want it to be an ear rape. I'm considering getting a 2door hardtop Bronco, but in some reviews, they note that there's a lot of wind and road noise. I got a tiny convertible roadster, which is def load on some roads, with cars on the side. I've been in a soft top jeep before, and I remember it being fairly quiet on the road with those big offroad tires. What's it like for this car? I read that at about 75 db at about 65mph, which is louder than my car, but I don't know if thats with the soft top or hard top.

Best thing you could do is test drive one if possible. There are a couple ways to reduce road noise with weatherstripping and whatnot if it's not quiet enough for you.

Ive had my 21 2door black diamond for 3 years and it seems quiet enough . I can have regular conversations without raising my voice. There are aftermarket companies like hotheads that make sound deadening kitS.

I have a two door with hard top and [thin] factory headliner. Noise is subjective. I don’t notice it much at speeds of ~50mph or less, but gets progressively louder beyond that (especially with cross winds). I have to raise my voice to speak with other passengers. I drown it out with some music when solo. YMMV. Have taken two 5ish hour trips with the family in it. They don’t seem to mind much, and tell me not to sell/trade it when I express interest in a different vehicle. Disclosure: this is my first off road / removable top vehicle.

If you want quiet, buy a lexus...

I have a four door and one thing I noticed was that when I added the Armorlite floor that helped with road noise, also when I installed that I added some panels of Killmat on the floor under the armorlite. There is still wind noise, head and cross winds are the worst but that is to be expected when you're driving something that has the aerodynamics of a brick.

As others mentioned there are posts on how to reduce the wind noise with added weather stripping and such but I haven't tried those yet as I don't have a problem with it.

I came from an Audi A5 so literally everything else was going to be noisier but I knew that coming in.

Prior to ordering my 4dr soft top...I asked the dealer the same question. Their response was.."these are designed for offroad, to be fun, and look good doing it...if you want quiet, take the top off and listen to nature."

So yes, the trucks are noisier than the average sedan/sports car/truck without a removable top. Wind noise from cross and head winds will cause you to speak a little louder than normal and turn up the radio...but once the top's off, it'll quiet down.

Loud is obviously a relative term, but I've learned if you have to ask, then it's probably going to be louder than what you want.

I love driving with the tops off and I expect it to be loud and I don't plan on talking on the phone, but when I have the top on and I actually want to hear someone talking, the Bronco hard top is still too loud because of the wind noise, which leads me to this: HowToCutDownOnWindNoise

It seems like a lot to have to do, but it's really easy and it makes a huge difference. I never did the large insulation pipe cover piece of it, I might for the winter, but just the small strips everywhere else helps dramatically. Most mods I did were to get the Bronco I wanted, this one is the mod for the Bronco I needed.

With that said, there is still road noise, and for that you have to Dynamat the floors and doors, which I plan to do the rest of at some point, but it's nowhere near as necessary and if I never get around to it, it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

My 2021 Ram Diesel dually under full load running six Open Country RT tires was significantly quieter than the Bronco on factory Sasquatch tires.

Yes, they’re loud. Recognize that going into it.

My 2022 Dr (Base) is more quiet than my wife's 2016 Forester (by a lot).

I do get that small wind-sound @ 70 MPH, but overall I'm quite happy with the sound deadening. I've got OBX tires/wheels on mine... and I don't get any tire noise to worry about. Not sure what a SAS 2Dr sounds like.

Don't have my MIC yet, but I did test drive it, and got it on the highway, and it's about the same as my Audi A4 that has pretty audible engine and road noise for some reason (it was actually one of the complaints when the car came out in 2018 on forums). So maybe I will just be used to it because my Audi isn't quiet by any stretch.
