Reverse gear torque is useless

I was stuck in a river bed over weekend and could not back my way out of situation. The torque provided in reverse gear is completely useless in a off road situation. Is there a way to bypass and have full power in reverse? Or is that the actuating gearing causing that in automatic transmission?

I was in 4l both lockers ingaged
But I tried 4h aswell reverse had no torque

Usaully if stuck or close to u move forward and back work urself out
Only could move forward no power in reverse gear. Which made situation worse. Reverse is a big part of off-roading. Could there b something wrong with it ?

First gear is 4.7xxx to 1, reverse is 4.8xxx, so torque is essentially the same. Trail condition to the rear could have been different

BTW, these ratios are pretty darn good for an auto

I’m not sure what you mean by “full power” in reverse, but there is nothing to bypass. It’s either reverse or no reverse.

Also reverse has the lowest gear ratio, so it should have the most torque out of any gear.

Default is off in 4L

Would have been easier goin back way I came goin forward was a problem lol
So I guess that’s just what comes with a 10 speed auto
No power in reverse ?
Doesn’t that seem like a problem in a off road vehicle?

You can’t spin the tires in reverse to get momentum so in a mud /snow/sand situation it makes backing out of said situation impossible can only continue forward
Which in off roading isn’t always a option

This was bouncing off the rev limiter in both forward and reverse while in 4L. Reverse is geared lower so less wheel speed. Didn't notice low power in reverse.

yah that looks bearable mine felt like traction control was stuck on I don’t believe I woulda back out of that .
Was that 4h ?
