So I ordered ProCal on Tuesday from Ford Performance with dealer pick up and install. I also have my ford performance website account too. I see the "Pro Cal" drop down menu and click that and it asks for a validation code. I am guessing you get that when the Pro Cal unit arrives to download the ProCal tune on and upload onto the Braptor. So when I go to the dealer for install I need to give them my Ford Performance website log in so they can enter the validation code, correct? 3 local dealers have never heard of this so I and they am really confused.

The procal device plugs into a typical Windows computer to get it's updates. In order to use the ProCal device and get the tune installed on it (using the vouchers that come with it for whatever you purchased, ProCal device itself, tune, severe steering rack, etc.) the ProCal device should be registered by you so you're the owner....THEN you can hand it over to the tech to do the install. Otherwise, some tech at your dealership is going to register it with their name to perform all the necessary steps to get the tune downloaded (as well as any other updates to the device or subsequent tune updates). And if that happens and the tech moves on to another job (like mine did) you're stuck with a ProCal device that you have that's VIN-locked to your vehicle but has an "owner account" that's not in your name...and you can't add any additional vouchers, or get any future updates, cause as far as FP is concerned..it's not your ProCal device. Regardless of whether you paid for it, and you're the owner of both the tuner and the vehicle it's VIN-locked to.

So register that ProCal with your email account and password...and then give it to the tech to do the work.

It really is a strange predicament to put warranty owners in when you consider how this is set up for private ownership. You need an account for future updates.

If you setup your account and backup your original map, and download the new map/software, the only part that would void your warranty, and the only part left for the tech to do is hit the button on the module.

If you even need to update something, you have to do all the steps anyway. And that doesn't void your warranty.

BTW the Tune is awesome. Huge instant difference in torque in all non-ECO modes.

I just ran into a post from a guy saying he didn't think it was any different from sport mode and the stock tune.

You'd disagree with that? Sport mode also seems like it has more pep?

Sport mode only affects the digital throttle response - it doesn't change horsepower/torque - so the Bronco "feels" peppier because it allows the engine to throttle up faster.

ProCal adds horsepower/torque to all modes.

It is fairly accurate to say that ProCal in Normal "feels" about like stock tune in Sport - but they are getting there in different ways, and Sport mode (and all other GOAT modes) stack on top of ProCal

Normal Mode w/87 Octane

Sport Mode w/87 Octane = normal mode w/Premium fuel (approximately equal)

ProCal + Normal mode w/ Premium fuel
-->
Procal + Sport Mode w/Premium fuel



Now, granted, this is just from a few days of driving around in town mostly. But I've dropped the hammer a few times now to get a feel for it.

The most noticeable thing about the tune is the torque. It's not electric-car-immediate, but I was surprised at how responsive it was right off the bat.

I did it since it was a net ~$400 installed, after discounts and points I had. Well worth it at that price. I'd probably still call it worth it at full price (though then I'd look at other brands / options too)
