PSA: Beauty Ring Bolts -- Removal Issues & Replacement Cost - BE AWARE!
Well I did it. No issues. A few bolts were harder to crack. A few were more difficult to screw back in but it all worked out. Used socket only. No drills.

I have a 2021 Badlands and today I just swapped my silver rings for the Broaddict black rings I got off eBay. I didn't have any issues with any bolts and everything came off and went back in just fine. It was surprisingly easy compared to some of the stories I've read about!!!
In short, it's my assessment that it's a crap shoot when taking these off. Some have been fine and some have problems. Just be prepared! I had extra tools/bolts waiting because I was expecting a problem. Now I've just added to the tool collection which I am fine with. So stoked with how it came out. Completely changes the look!

Guess I got lucky... pulled mine off this weekend to color change and had no issues:
Do tire shops need to remove the beauty rings when removing/installing tires? I'm going in this weekend to have my wheels swapped and of the rings have to come off I'm going to do it myself before I take it in, no way I trust they will do it without damage!

Not if the tire shop knows what it's doing. It seems that many haven't a clue.

I would take the rings off myself before taking it to a tire shop. They are more likely than not going to remove them unless you have a discussion beforehand. Even then, I would still bet the "tire technician" removes them and really drives those bolts home on reinstallation.

$1200, $995 for the 5 rings, and the rest for mounting the beadlock tires. This doesn’t include the tax, nor does it include having my rings powder coated black to match the rims exactly. The powder coating was $125 for all 5 rings.
mine were not cross threaded. But had they been, I would have blamed the techs as they were the ones to remove and replace them.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I just want to chime in and say I’m dealing with the same problem.
Went to America’s tire for new tires, and they seriously scuffed up the beauty ring (they did not remove them before replacing the tires). They recognized they made the mistake and said they’d send in the beauty rings for me to get refinished. They’ve spent the last hour trying to remove this one beauty ring because of stubborn cross threaded screws.
