Because of the heat in AZ, windshields crack on a very regular basis. Glass coverage is a standard feature of car insurance here. No deductible. Call your insurance company, file a glass claim, and somebody will be out in a day or two to fix it. I've even had them find my car in the parking lot at work (back in the olden times when going to work was a thing...).

I'm used to it. I've replaced my 2017 F-150 windshield 2 times and my 2009 F-150 once.

I think in the first two years of ownership, I went through four windshields in my Jeep, but then none until two years ago. So I went through five windshields in seven years. Nothing can be as bad as a Wrangler. After the first three years, I drove significantly less and this is probably why I haven't gone through ten by now.

EDIT: I put about 30,000 miles on it the first two years.

Owned a 2015 JKU until I sold it to prepare for the Bronco never had a windshield get cracked. On my FJ Cruiser before that I had two wind shields its just dumb luck. Also not sure who your insurance is but mine replaced 2 a year for free found that out when the old Armada took a hit on a trip.

Windshields! Did you say windshields! ...... I owned and commuted with a 2003 Mini cooper for 7 years. That car had a bullseye on the front of it. 230,000 miles, 14 windshields. you could fart next to it and break the glass!

Possible, yes. 2013 Jeep Wrangler, 86,000 miles never a death wobble and never had a windshield cracked or any flat tire and I’m off road often.

Near vertical windshields done mix well with stones. Welcome soon to the club.

2013 JKU owned for 5 years and never had an issue with windshield either. Wish I could say the same thing about the death wobble.

I have $50 comprehensive deductibles on my cars for this reason. Miata = thin glass. F-100 = hard to find glass. My lady's STi = flat glass.

It'll pay for itself. Already did with the deer that ran in to the side of my Miata. For some reason Progressive deductibles on comprehensive are cheap as hell.

I've gone through 3 windshields on a F350...so um, pretty much just lots of driving and bad luck.

Not
Another day without the new bronco, another thread of complaints
I wasn't trying to complain. Just making people aware of an issue from my jeep days and an observation.

Lets call it, setting expectations. One could say it is even a preventative measure for future complaints.

If you look at side by side pics of the 2017 and previous wranglers and 2018+ wranglers, you'll see that jeep angled and curved the newer windshields more. The two windshields on wranglers I've seen break were due to oncoming traffic launching rocks or rock salt into the windshield. Just yesterday traffic on the highway launched a rock over the concrete barrier into my subaru's windshield. No crack, though.

In some states (like KY), laws don't allow a deductible on windshield glass. In TN, it's covered by comprehensive coverage and the associated deductible. Make no mistake, that's one of the many reasons car insurance in KY is significantly higher than in TN.

I am in FL and we get free chip repair or W/S replacement as long as you have comp on the pol.
Yes you are correct. But nothing is for free. I've had both repairs and replacements that don't cost me anything up front. But when my policy renewed, the rate increased. When I asked, they explained about the claims for the windshield in the past. The increase is still minor, compared to paying for the replacement of windshield. But you still pay in the end.

It sucks because I'm planning on trading in my Jeep. Just returned from a trip to Texas, and wouldn't you know it, I caught a rock. No repair on this one. I will need to replace the windshield.
