Maybe I am wrong, but the windshield on the bronco has a very similar positioning to the wrangler. If you haven't had the jeep baptism yet, you aren't familiar with their inability to take glancing blows from rocks off the front glass. I easily needed 1-2 new windshields a year when I had my JKU.

So, while you still have time, starting thinking about moving to places like South Carolina, where insurance replaces/repairs these for free.

I haven't owned a Wrangler, but in the past year I've had to rent a few. This explains so much on drives from CHS to SAV

I hear ya. I swear, I live in the "dump truck capital" of the world! Whenever I go out it seems like I'm right behind one.

They are upright, but I have only had to replace mine 3 times in 7+ years. We don't get snow often, so we don't have a lot of gravel on the roads. I have had to repair chips almost every year, but the kits are easy to use.

Now my Honda Element, that went through windshields!

Depending on where you live and the kind of traffic you dive in and the amount of driving you do (especially on I95 in the north east ) it's pretty common to , to need to have a windshield replaced or repaired every couple of years. regardless of vehicle make or model. My insurance company always pays for the repair/replacement and it has never cost me any thing.

Here in Alberta you generally expect to have to replace a windshield every two years anyway.
Ha. I drove in to Ft Mac one day for a new windshield on a work truck. Cracked it on the way back to site after it was done. Went about 45 minutes with a good windshield.

Same in Manitoba. This is one of my concerns. Windshields are a consumable on most vehicles.

Good point. However the bronco windshield has slightly more angle to it, and is also curves very slightly the further away from center it gets — unlike the wrangler windshield which has to be more flat since it folds down

I'm used to replacing windshields every 1-2 years anyhow considering how much gravel is laid down on our roads from October to April. I'll take that over salt any day!

My 2014 silverado has original glass still with no chips or cracks. Angle is key but ride height also helps. dont let cars drive in front of you lol

It will be just like the Wrangler and FJ's. My FJ would get new glass in the spring. Around here in winter they put gravel down rather than salting the roads. From about November to May there is no point in replacing the glass.
