How many windshields (including replacements) have you gone through?

I drive like an old man - I'm most of the way there anyway! Never tailgate around here as I know my stopping power is generally less than most passenger cars. If you leave a car length in front of you on the freeways here, someone WILL squeeze in front of you. In my older, supposedly wiser years, It's no big deal - get in front of me if you think that will get you to where you're going that much sooner. I used to get all kinds of pissed when that happened when I was younger.

I'd probably be on my 6th windshield if I did tailgate. The last one that happened in December the landscape trailer was probably 10+ car lengths in front of me on Carefree highway. What got me was him going into the right turn lane and throwing a rock at me as I got closer.

New windshield is in - they put an after market one this time. He said a 'lifetime waranty' to which I replied 'so 6 months then!'

I had a WRX that cracked a windshield in the 1st month and was young and didn't realize that there was OEM and non OEM parts. Had a non OEM windshield put in and it didn't come with the sun shade in the windshield and a few other things missing so made safelight switch it out with OEM

Got a chip first few weeks. Installed this and zero in last 2+ years....and a lot less bugs. Gloss black on black bronco most don't even notice it until I point it out.

I put on a Ford Aeroskin II a couple years ago. No dings and bug issue decreased noticeably.

BTW, about 15 years ago a guy I knew (mortician no less) had his business partner KILLED on State St via a rock ( volley ball size) that came out from being stuck on a gravel trucks duals and go all the way through his suburban windshield and hit him in the head. His 12-13 yr old daughter in front passenger seat was unharmed as they went off road at 25-30 mph on way to school!! That taught me a lesson on following distance …

A rock that size going 30mph is going to bounce a couple of times!! you would need to be pretty far back. The tri-axle dump that took out my first WS was in the right lane (i was in left) and it bounced over the car behind it and just hit bottom corner of the passenger side WS. It was about the size of a golf ball and scared the $h1T out of me when it hit...

I'm still with the OEM one. It has numerous chips and a crack ¾ of the way across horizontally.

1 year later and Still factory for me (knock on wood)! I am very cautious when I am behind any truck without mudflaps... I also have the ford accessories hood deflector installed.
