Yup, no radar in the box. Just the camera in the windshieldI have the most basic Base Bronco. It has the square black plastic case (item 2 in the diagram). Does that mean on my Bronco, it's just an empty plastic case with no radar?

Well, the passengers probably wouldn't be in the car with her if she couldn't count on them to "have her back"... lolFirst, thanks to everyone wishing my daughter is ok. She is fine.
Second, A lot of you people jump to conclusions way too early and read their own minds into things. There were 2 other passengers in the car that are vouching for her that no one saw it coming as it happened while she was checking traffic and she was moving into a left lane. She was not on her phone. She does not know about the Pre Collision Assist or AEB so no one was relying on this tech. It was more of a sense of security for myself thinking that it might help but in this case where it was supposedly designed to help it failed. No one is blaming anyone else other than the person that rear ended someone, and it could have happened to anyone. BTW it was our Base model that does not have the ACC, so no front cameras, just the radar and no it is not blocked.
You have radar if you have the sensors in the round things on the bumper. The big module is behind that plastic screeny looking thingy.I have the most basic Base Bronco. Thanks for sharing, but that also show’s you’re tailgating; a lot. Here's a little video of mine kicking in. It's pretty fast. The brakes engaged even before the alarm went off. You can see the nose take a dip. It was a bit jarring, but I'm glad it works.
Welcome to the GWB on a average work morning...Thanks for sharing, but that also show’s you’re tailgating; a lot.
Nice music though!![]()
My warning often goes off when making a left turn when there is someone in front of me. So, probably not.Doesn't it deactivate when the turn signal is activated?
The Pre Collision Assist/Automatic Emergency Braking on my Outer Banks is working fine. In fact I would say it is a bit too cautious but that may be because I am bit too over confident in my driving (and stopping) skiils after 60 years of driving. I am happy to have the AEB click-in "prematurely" and add another safety layer.Just to give everyone a heads up that Pre Collision Assist/Automatic Emergency Braking AEB doesn't work that great (or at all). I'm very disappointed it didn't work and had a false sense of security that it would help. My daughter recently plowed into the back of a Wrangler that stopped abruptly in front of her. No alert, braking, nothing. Confirmed the features were all on and sensitivity was set to high, which was one of the first things I did when we got the vehicle.
My grandson rear ended a car a while back.. He and is mom blamed it on the fact that the car in front of him had AEB and stopped fast for another car in front that stopped suddenly. No, he was obviously not paying attention or following to close. He's been through drivers ed, but had never heard of defensive driving. In fairness, I rear ended a car when I was 16, had a Jeep with shit brakes, but still on me...You have radar if you have the sensors in the round things on the bumper. The big module is behind that plastic screeny looking thingy.
Regardless, even sunlight can blind those things so it’s always going to be about the driver.
Again, no one admits where they‘ve failed. No one takes responsibility these days.
However……. That’s why you should always keep enough space between you and the car in front so you don’t hit them should something happen. The OPs kid DID NOT DO THAT.
I don’t care how much daddy wants his baby to be perfect, she and all of us have lapses when driving; just a part of life. In this Instance, she was lucky it wasn’t worse and hopefully she learns something.
But, when these helicopter parents constantly tell you it‘s not your fault and somehow the car failed you; then she may not learn a thing and that type of behavior is dangerous to everyone.
Young people will always suck at driving, but when they don’t feel responsible, the bad driving will continue. I’m a strong believer in driving classes. When even taking a track driving course, safety is always the first 15-30 minutes. If you don’t learn anything else, you‘ll remember how to set up your side mirrors properly to eliminate the blind spots and you’ll learn how to look 2-3 vehicles ahead to have pre-warning when traffic changes.
Most important, you learn that no one can drive for shit, so act accordingly.![]()
Every Bronco has Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. There is no auto brake feature but it should still give you a warning sign and pre-charge the brakes if it detects a close by car/object in front of you but that also depends on how fast your car was going
Actually you're right. Thankfully it never happened to me so I thought the warning/brake precharge was the only feature.. Sorry about that!Every Bronco has Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking.
