I have a Badlands 2-door 6mt, got it 3 months ago. I really enjoy my Bronco, more than I even imagined before I got it. There are all sorts of ways to enjoy this car, but nothing about this vehicle (big squishy tires, so-so braking action, ponderous in changing directions, high center of gravity, high weight) screams "DRIVE ME FAST" to me anyway.

For me, if my Bronco blew up, and I wanted another one, and I was told all you can have is an automatic 2.3l 2 door or an automatic V6 four door. I'd chose the two door. Significantly shorter length makes it easier to find parking in my city, its quite a bit lighter than the 4 door of equivalent, (making the 2.3 less of an issue) and TO ME it is much better looking. It doesn't sacrifice too much in the way of rear seat leg room, but does sacrifice an extra seat and trunk space, and these are the important factors to consider.

Not that I really care about drag racing a bronco, but…

Ninja 650 1/4 mile time: 12.3
Modified 2.7 Bronco 1/4 time (before it was even turned up): 12.58
…and you don’t have to check ā€œorgan donorā€ on your license šŸ˜†

Hi everyone,

I've been waiting for years to buy a 2 door bronco with a V6 and a matching painted roof. I've decided on Eruption Green or Desert Sand. I was hyped when they announced matching tops. But now Ford has removed the V6 option unless I want to buy their overpriced multicolor StRoPpE EdiTiOn.

What would you do?
- Buy a 2024 and attempt to pay a 3rd party to sand the roof and paint it?
- Spend an additional 5k for a 4DR with a V6?
- Just buy a 2025 with the I-4 as there isn't that big of a difference?
- Wait for 2026?

Paint is easy!!! Regret that you got a mordoor is life long...

Team 2 Door = Purpose Built and Bad Ass šŸ‘ šŸ˜Ž šŸ‘

That's the only right choice with a 2.7

Update:

Went to the dealership today....

- Everyone at the dealership recommended the V6 for a sasquatch Bronco
- They had no knowledge about the 2.3L performance calibration tune device
- They don't recommend I paint the 2024 top as they believe the MIC top won't be able to properly worked on to match the rest of the vehicle
- They are unsure if the 2025 roof is compatible with the 2024 roof. The 2025 parts are unable to be bought at this time. They said they'd look into the compatibility and cost if I were to attempt to buy it separately (they didn't seem overly confident that it'd be a realistic option)

Buy the 2024 2door V6, then spend some cash and get the Armadillo top. They make it for the two door now. It will function the same as the OEM, last WAY longer, will be stronger, and you can get it in Black/White/or Raw and have it painted or wrapped.

Nope, I do not work for them, but just mentioning it as an option since we're throwing options out there.

Buy the 2024 V6. Think 5 years down the road here. What will you enjoy more? The bigger engine, or the aging top? These tops aren't exactly bullet proof. I'd say a greater chance you'll "need" to replace the top within 5-10 years, but the V6 will last forever. I have the green/grey molded in color HT on mine (4-door). I personally like the color contrast of the grey/green on the car, but personal preference.

The V6 will reward you far more than a colored HT. You'll enjoy the v6 every time you drive it. You'll enjoy the green hard top every time you don't drive it. Which one is more important to you?

I'd get the V6. It would be nice to have a matching color top but the V6 has lots of torque down low. The Bronco is a Brick and can get heavy depending on package options. You are going to need the power to move it in a world where most everyone is in a super hurry to get no where. I have the V6 and love it and it gets decent MPG for what it is.
There’s zero situations where the 2.3 won’t do anything the 2.7 does. I have a 4dr with the 2.3 and have never felt it was under powered. Off road, on road, mountains, 85 mph freeway. It does it all quite handily. And will kick any jeep’s ass except the 392.
The 10-speed keeps it squarely in its power band in sport mode. Might be different with only six gears IDK.
And the 2.3 has been proven to be more reliable.
We also have an ecoboost 2.3 Mustang with 100k miles and zero issues. The light weight makes it corner better than a GT. Both the Mustang and Bronco are a blast to drive. I also have a big block Mach1 and used to race a nitrous 351 69, so I know a little about performance.
How often do you plan to drag race your Bronco? Lol

I’ve had two 2.7 4-doors, a OBX and now a WT. I like the 2.7 and is well matched for the vehicle weight. I don’t even remember the roof coloršŸ˜‰.

No but I do have 35’s and lift, aftermarket front bumper and winch. Even with the 4.46 gears it does fine. A Sasquatch should do even better with the 4.7 gearing.

You really should go drive both engines.

Only you can decide what is most important to you.

For me, the 2.7 was a no-budge option (even moreso after driving my dealer's mannequin 2.3 while waiting for my order... I would NOT have been happy with it & you drive it more than you look at it). I'm sure it's better in a lighter trim, such as a 2 door... but it was a big no for me.

@Fordified1 I drove both engines today.

- 2.3L 2DR without sasq (no sasq available)
- 2.7L 2DR with sasq

In my opinion, the 2.7L is certainly better than the 2.3L.

Smoother, faster pick up, and a very quiet ride. However, I didn't have any issues with the 2.3L. Noise doesn't really matter to me. I will not be drag racing or towing anything. So a 2.3L isn't out of the picture.

@Nc211 I appreciate your advice! It looks sick, however, I don't feel like it really fits my personality or the look that I am going for.

I just came across at thread that is making me rethink things though. If this guy could paint his MIC I do not see why I couldn't with the right body shop. I just need to keep looking for a place that can do this. This Youtube video is what I want.

2.7 has been pushing heavier Fords than the Bronco around since 2015. (F-150)
2.3 has also been in service since 2015 (Mustang)

So, they really have the same track record, and Ford has built a lot more 2.7s than 2.3s
Hold on the 2.3 has been around since the 80’s

Best option may be to find a ā€˜24 heritage 2d with v6…white top is the same top as the body colored ones and would be easy to repaint body color…don’t let anyone talk ya out of the v6 or 2dr…
