Not that the 2.7 is terrible or anything, it just doesn't have the same track record
2.7 has been pushing heavier Fords than the Bronco around since 2015. (F-150)
2.3 has also been in service since 2015 (Mustang)

So, they really have the same track record, and Ford has built a lot more 2.7s than 2.3s

I stand corrected - you are right!

Hi everyone,

I've been waiting for years to buy a 2 door bronco with a V6 and a matching painted roof. I've decided on Eruption Green or Desert Sand. I was hyped when they announced matching tops. But now Ford has removed the V6 option unless I want to buy their overpriced multicolor StRoPpE EdiTiOn.

What would you do?
- Buy a 2024 and attempt to pay a 3rd party to sand the roof and paint it?
- Spend an additional 5k for a 4DR with a V6?
- Just buy a 2025 with the I-4 as there isn't that big of a difference?
- Wait for 2026?

Easy choice. Painted Roof all the way. Gas mpgs are horrible. Even with my i4 turbo I’m getting gas every 2.5 days. I can’t imagine the 6. Plus the i4 has 300hp. That’s plenty.

I own a two door Badlands with the 2.3. Before I ordered I drove both motors. I never gave the motors a second thought. . I saved $1800 dollars going with the 2.3. If I was ordering the same Bronco today, I would still go with the 2.3 and spend the $1000 on the color matching MOD top.

$1800 was a deal in MY22, when guys were paying $800 for different headlights and the like, not sure what MY25 forces you into, as far as trims.

2 door V6 is the way to go if you can find one. Getting the top painted later is easy. I was looking for whatever 2 door Sas I could find for sticker price early last year and lucked into my V6 base Sas which kicks butt. It wasn't my first choice of color but the V6, mod bumper, brush guard, steps and aux switches made up for it. Add a 3" cat-back and some different wheels/tires and it's a blast.

I would look at Desert Sand before you buy.. In my opinion there is a lot of green in that color that doesn't show up on a computer. Its an oddball color.. you may like it, but look at in person before you decide. I have the 2.3L and its a fine motor and you don't need a lot of HP to wheel..

Thanks for all of the responses!

In summary, what I'm seeing is that the I-4 is solid but it is easier to change the color than it is to change the engine. So if able, I should just get the V6 2024 and paint the top. But one of the posters made a good point about it impacting the warranty, I'd really like to keep the monochromatic green paint look if able. Not interested in wrapping.

Maybe I should rethink the 4DR. Sad because I've been sold on the 2DR appearance for a while now

They get the same gas mileage.

V-6 every day.

Go drive both the 2.3 and 2.7 in the 2024 models and that will give you all the info you need on whether it’s worth giving up
the painted hardtop , my money is on you’ll want the 2.7 , there’s no comparison , even after the tune and whatever other snake oil you want to throw at the 2.3 , the low end torque on low octane fuel for that twin turbo is fantastic, resale is way better in the 2.7 also, I you want to go best of both worlds get the 4 door painted top 2.7
