I have a 2.3 manual and have no complaints. If I had the 2.7, I might end up in jail. Sounds like painted top is the priority, I’d go with that.

I’ve had both - 2.7 and then the 2.3. Don’t even notice the difference in the everyday driving. V6 did sound good, but I don’t even think about it until I see someone post about it honestly. To each their own of course, but I’d rather have the color matched top every day of the week.

Ford has lost me as a future customer by not offing the v6 in a 2 dr…wish the ”stroppe” had the 3.0….”no such thing as too much horsepower, only too little traction” C Shelby…

In summary, what I'm seeing is that the I-4 is solid but it is easier to change the color than it is to change the engine.
Yes, changing the color of the hardtop would be easier than changing the engine #tool

Frankly, my initial gut said be OK with the 2.3--and even if you need extra torque, just tune it.

But then I remembered, in this application (to date) the 2.3 is straight DI with potential carbon buildup. I must admit, I feel a little better knowing my 2.7 also has port injection--that keeps the carbon from building up.

Maybe in 2025 the 2.3 has the secondary port injection like on the Mustang? Have we seen engine specs?

Or wait until mid year or even 2026. Mid year they may re-arrange the options, and 2026 I expect a big bang for the 60th anniversary.

With all that being said, I'm on team "get a '24 and wrap the top". A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Thanks for your insight. If I have a 2024 top painted would I have issues with a body shop matching the color appropriately? Would it impact my warranty?

Mid-year as in June 2025?

My superpower is being able to immediately identify bots, trolls and tools. That said, pretty sure you're not a bot, so please stop using ChatGPT type apps. #tool
That wasn't ChatGPT lol. I'm just trying to read through the responses and not clutter the thread by responding too frequently.

Hi everyone,

I've been waiting for years to buy a 2 door bronco with a V6 and a matching painted roof. I've decided on Eruption Green or Desert Sand. I was hyped when they announced matching tops. But now Ford has removed the V6 option unless I want to buy their overpriced multicolor StRoPpE EdiTiOn.

What would you do?
- Buy a 2024 and attempt to pay a 3rd party to sand the roof and paint it?
- Spend an additional 5k for a 4DR with a V6?
- Just buy a 2025 with the I-4 as there isn't that big of a difference?
- Wait for 2026?

This is an absolute no-brainer. Those body color roofs look badass. Get the roof and forget about the engine.

Get the 2.7 (v6). You can modify the roof anytime.

$2695 for the glamor top.
$3640 for the impossible to balance engine with a slushbox.

Neither option is attractive.

If the V6 had been offered with the manual, I would have bought the V6. But now having owned the 2.3L for a year, I don't care about the V6, the 2.3L has all the power I need. Even my wife who drives vehicles like she stole them, comments on the nice power of the 2.3L (at least compared to some of our other vehicles).

But, I've never been a pedal masher, and I live in a flat area at low altitude. Maybe if still living in Colorado driving in the mountains often, I'd want the V6. Or if you are one of those people who enjoy blasting from one stoplight to the next being first, probably get the V6.

Have you seen the painted hardtop in person? I haven't yet, and am not sure I'd like the smooth gloss surface it has in some photos. Other than the potential for cracking, I actually like the MIC top surface.

All depend how you will use it, for me it was the V6. Back in the early reservation days I had the gloss black top which did not materialize for years so I got MIC and lots of ford points as a consolation prize which I used for extended warranty at Granger.

I live in SoCal and take this thing to the mountains and desert extensively, it is pinstriped AF. In retrospect, for my use case a painted or gloss black hardtop would show a lot more damage than MIC…but we all use these differently and I say make the right choice for your use case. As long as you are happy is all that really matters!

Yeah, mid-model-year for 2025. I know in 2023 mid-year they took the 2.7 away from the OBX, for example. So they do switch things up now and then.

My 21 two door 7MT Badlands scoots with the FP tune and pedal commander. I couldn’t buy a Bronco without 3 pedals.
