After reading this thread, I was surprised to see nobody mentioned Bulletpoint Mounting Solutions. I got this before we went to Moab last spring:
https://www.bulletpointmountingsolu...ronco-platform-dash-mount-device-phone-holder
I’m able to go wired or wireless. I have no issues with wireless CarPlay. I went with the charging cradle rather than a MagSafe because on the trails I thought it might be more secure. Worked really well and I always recommend to any asking for a recommendation. Good luck with your decision!

I dont understand the need to mount a phone as everything shows up on the dash display or is available by voice control. Unless there is some app I don’t use that phone needs to be out. However I do think the Bronco is really lacking places to just set things like a phone. Console design is about useless. I suppose the new FIT items might help. I’m watching this post just because I would like an easy to use convenient holder just for that. Not to use the phone.
You make a good point here.

I dont really need the phone to be out. But theres only 1 spot to set a phone, I now have two - the one i leave in the Bronco and the one i carry around.

The only time i ever really need to pick up the phone is that occasionally CarPlay fails to start and i have to fidget with things to get it running.

If it would fit in that holder under the hvac it would be nice - but the way the USB plug is set right in the middle - it won’t sit right. It being thrown in askew, or having a phone hanging out in a cup holder… it just bugs me because you can tell it doesn't belong like that. Like opening the door to my teenagers room and seeing the crap thrown all over the place.

For me I don't like to have my phone just rattling around while it's plugged in, it's really bad for the charging port. So normally when I have it on the lower Mount is when it's plugged in. And onX doesn't work well for me on the screen so I put it on the higher amount when I'm off road and need to use the map. I also have the smaller 8-in screen on the infotainment system and it's not always user friendly, and may lock up every now and then. I'd rather have my phone set up in a good way in case I need to use it.

After using Wireless Carplay for 2 years it's been flawless. Make sure your are running the most up to date IOS.

For a phone mount I used the 67 Designs which worked well with and without built in MagSafe. Without MagSafe I used he provided stick-on thin metal plate. In all of my vehicles I prefer the phone to be mounted closer to the line of sight through the windshield but not obstructing my view. It mounted to the dashboard accessory point and worked well.

Wow, really?

Wireless Carplay, there are certain radio towers around where I live - when I drive by them, it totally breaks Wireless Carplay. One of them happens to be located next to the parking lot for my office. So every time I leave work, it's a fight to get the phone to try to connect. And driving down the major highways I use to get to some of our job sites - there are radio towers - I just know at this and this and this exit, CarPlay is gonna barf. I finally just gave up.

Maybe Ford finally got all the gremlins out of Sync and it works fine beyond that. But there are enough towers where I travel frequently I don't think it will ever get sorted.

I bought the 67d.com mount early on and it worked great but a little pricey..
They now have an affordable smaller version we use in our Raptor

Long term review

I'm in a fairly rural area which may contribute to its reliability but I have ventured into Pittsburgh and NY state without disconnects. I also use it in a Ford F-350 and Subaru without issues.

Is there anyone that sells just the base mounts for the driver and passenger side grab handles? I like the idea of having the option of putting whatever mount I decide there. I guess I could buy the whole thing from Mabett if I had to.

I use a tackform cradle mount on my handlebar of my motorcycle - it's pretty solid. In the Bronco - I just throw it in the center armrest or in the cupholder.
