A lot of good info in this thread. Just wanted to throw out that i got this filter wrench that fits the 910 filter perfectly.

Does the oil drain plug use a crush washer?

Does anyone have a good tool to remove the oil filter on a 2.3L Bronco? The oil filter that is behind the tire. I can reach to remove it but I usually make a mess and scratch up my arm. Is there an extension tool that is perfect for this? Thanks!
I've found the easiest way to get to the 2.3L is underneath, not through the tire. You can easily get under without lifting the vehicle, and there's a massive clear passage, though you have to be careful as there is an exhaust near it. There's tons of room for any tool you might want to use, and I find it less uncomfortable to lay down and work over my head than squatting next to the tire.

I also feel like it's way easier to get the new filter on while being sure not to get crap all over the seal and/or in the filter.

I just use my hand, or a basic oil filter cap with a ratchet if I he-man'd it too much putting it on.

I have a little plastic tub that I wedge in to catch the drainage from the drain chute. Easy peasy, no mess, no injury as long as you mind the exhaust.
