OK just saw video talking about how critical this part is...

Anyone car to calm me down or make me more nervous about having it changed.

Thanks

The first generation of usdm turbo Subaru legacys and outbacks were absolutely plagued with turbos taking a dump because of a clogged banjo bolt screen within the feed/pickup system. Sometimes you'd get lucky and it was only the turbine side that went... But most of the time the compressor went too... naturally ruining the motor.

I owned one, real fun car... very unsuspecting apart from the hood scoop.. but the motor was swapped with one from an STi before I bought it.. so no troubles there.

However... Guy I worked with at the time had a stock one. He needed his motor replaced 3x within the 3 years he was with us. I'd ask everybody driving one of those cars I'd meet in public (mostly gas stations) how many times they've needed their engine replaced and it was always at LEAST twice.

There was a post here not too long ago where a guy had an issue with a turbo inlet filter.

I think we all kinda calmed down and realized - you don't need to really do anything with the turbo screen unless you have other issues that point you in that direction.

Videos like this are just pure AI slop fear mongering videos.
Just ignore them.

The turbo oil filter doesn’t typically need to be changed unless you’ve had a catastrophic failure or you never follow normal maintenance intervals.

This channel has been popping up on my feed, and it looks like AI click bait. It ha shown various vehicles, and ones like "1 Percent of ford (insert vehicle here) know this hidden secret" I have started clicking "Not interested".. there's also another channel with a similar name with the same click bait scenario..

And the titles are horrid.. "Did you know That if you click this unrelated button on the click bait screen where the arrow is pointing at a random interior part that nothing will change"

🤪

Yep it’s all for clicks. 99% of the stuff the claim is complete nonsense or not even slightly accurate

Still images, 16 minutes of "content".....it's the antithesis of the lockpicklawyer Youtube videos, succinct, to the point, and never pandering to the algorithm.
