I am preparing to tow the Bronco behind my motorhome for the first time time this coming week. On a few occasions I have tested the process of shifting into, and then out of, Neutral Tow mode.

Observations:
- Bronco goes into Neutral Tow just fine, as described in the book.
- Disengagement following the book doesn’t do anything. Put foot on brake for 7 seconds. Nothing. 20 seconds nothing. Press brake with both feet as hard as you can while cursing…nothing….
- However….if you press switch and enter Accessory mode, then depress the brake, then shift transmission back to park….perfectly shifts out of Neutral Tow mode. Start the Bronco, and everything shifts perfectly fine.

So, my question… Did Ford omit a step in the manual and process? Press brake for 7 seconds and THEN shift the transmission into Park?

Thoughts?

Mine gets a little glitchy coming out but I think it's partly due to my poor reading skills. After turning on ACC mode step two says hold brake for 7 seconds then shift to park, sometimes I wait for the TC shift, nope sposed to shift to park after 7. Once when I shifted to Park the dash indicator stayed in N. I did it all again, even started engine finally went IDK...

Switching Neutral Tow Off 1. With your vehicle properly secured to the tow vehicle, switch your vehicle to accessory mode by pressing the push button ignition switch without pressing any pedals. 308 2021 Bronco (TG1) Canada/United States of America, enUSA, Edition date: 202101, First-Printing Towing Your Vehicle 2. Starting with the brake pedal released and the transmission in neutral (N), fully press and hold the brake pedal for approximately seven seconds and shift the transmission to park (P). Continue holding the brake pedal until the instrument cluster display shows 2H and Neutral Tow Disabled. Note: If completed successfully, the instrument cluster displays 2H and Neutral Tow Disabled. Note: Perform the switching neutral tow

Yes I think you missed the put it in ACC Mode first step.
Here is a copy of my cheat sheet. I printed and cut it out, then laminated them back to back to make just one sheet.
Have also notice the Out of Tow Mode message only stays on the screen a few seconds and easily missed. I always check for the 2H to light up on the mode switch.

JJBulldawg,

Yes, Ford must of left the "shift to Park" tidbit out of the original instructions for disengaging neutral tow. We have towed our Bronco 3 times and going into neutral tow was like butter. Getting it out was aggravating each time. Prior to a recent trip I researched it again and Ford mentions the "shift to P" and it worked great at each disconnect.

Was going to type in a nice long post but I see I already did above.

I just checked both copies of the pdf manuals that I down loaded ver 1 and ver 1B and neither say to shift into park. Just checked both online versions, in the Bronco and with my computer and that state shift into park. Don't know for sure were I got my original info but it was right. LOL

Please note that there is a change in the procedures for vehicles built later in June of 2022. I know! better check your owners manual before using someone else's cheat sheet.
