I love my 6112s, but I also tow near max weight, and have a good amount of gear regularly in the vehicle which is specifically why I got them.
They can be firm, but very planted. Nose dive and leaning from turns feel so much better. Rides pretty flat, in a good way.
They've been a great upgrade over HOSS 2.0.
I do mostly slow and technical, but I actually like them quite a bit at desert running speeds around 60-70mph as well.
I had no issues reaching 70 mph on the Moab off rodeo sandy two tracks. This was a stock Badlands 4 door with HOSS 2.0.
I have the same on my 2 door Badsquatch, thinking of 8112's when the time comes.

If you can find some HOSS 2.0 Bilstein takeoffs like-new for $300-400, I'd go that route. And then go 34" tires. So yeah, the non-Sas Badlands is really all you'll need and it should be a good deal compared to other upgrades out there.
Hoss 2.0 takeoffs for $400: You are gambling with premature failure and you have no idea if you are getting the proper spring rate.

Bilstein 5100 for $600: You are getting new shocks and are reusing springs of the proper weight unless you've added a bunch of stuff. Plus, you can set the ride height. Add a winch? Move the circlip one notch.

Details, details... lol Fair enough, all good points.

Running 5100s with 1.5 and 1.7" lift for 3++ years, very good, inexpensive and holding up to mixed use. installation isn't too bad, mark and drop lower control arm, compressing the spring can be frightening. If/when I replace I'll probably go Ford Performance which I understand is a Bilstein 6100 with a fixed 2" lift.
