Just noticed this today while I was washing my bronco. After only two years my bumper has tons of rust spots! I have no idea if this is normal but I’m so bummed out. Is rust a warranty item?

That is your rear bumper not the modular front bumper unless you rerouted your exhaust to the front.

Rust isn't a warranty item. Should have opted for mudflaps as the underside of the rear bumper will be pelted with rocks and debris.

Actually, Rust is covered, but it appears yours is caused by road conditions and normal wear and tear. Stone chips in the coating allowed the bare metal to be exposed to the elements.

In all likelihood that's not going to be covered by warranty, but it never hurts to ask?

What does the Ford Corrosion Warranty cover?
The Corrosion Warranty covers body sheet metal panels against corrosion due to defects in factory-supplied materials or workmanship. Warranty coverage will vary based on the material used and if there is perforation (holes).
Corrosion warranty coverage includes:
  • Body sheet metal corrosion damage without perforation, which is covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
  • Rust damage on body panels resulting in perforation, which is covered for 5 years/unlimited miles.
  • Corrosion damage on aluminum panels, which is covered for 5 years/unlimited miles with no requirement for perforation.
If you have a corrosion-related concern, your Ford Dealer can determine if it is covered under warranty.
Notes:
  • The corrosion warranty coverage does not apply if the damage is the result of abnormal usage or extreme environmental conditions.
  • Rust caused by exposed sheet metal from accidents or normal wear and tear are not defects in material or workmanship.
  • The paint on the vehicle is covered under the terms of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Hey be nice. And also, Thanks! Both the front bumper and the back bumper have small rust spots. I only uploaded pictures of the back bumper as you graciously pointed out ❤.

The front bumper will get them from rocks coming off the cars in front of you. The rear will get it from your own rocks. You live in Alaska, as do I, so you know how they "sand" our roads with crushed rock and it wreaks havoc on vehicles. On top of that we have more dirt roads than pavement. Keep a good following distance, wrap at least your front end with PPF, and put some mudflaps on. It's the best you can do. Other than that just accept that Alaska DOT doesn't care about our vehicles.
