Hey all!
Just got back from Super Cell East and discovered my 2024 MIC has failed spectacularly. :)
I have several large cracks, and it is delaminating severely on the two rear sections.
I am certain this will be a no brainer and covered by my warranty.

My question is, has anyone had any luck getting a painted top in leu of the gray MIC under a warranty claim?
I would even pay the difference.

Curios what my options may be.

Thanks!

Zero chance at a painted mod top.

Is there a correlation of hard top cracks and major trail rides that torque the body a lot?

Lots of threads around hard top issues. There are some that arrive on the lot with cracks already formed. Many folks use and abuse their rigs and have no issues. It's the luck of the draw.

A month ago you posted you had no cracks or issues with your MIC, so they just popped up in last 30 days. Bummer….. welcome to the infamous club.
Yup! Washed and waxed her around the end of February and noticed nothing. Just this week she gave up the ghost 😂 2 major cracks with pealing over 3” long and spider webbing and delamination on every panel

that's weird!!! These tops are bulletproof!

ok just kidding - it's a club that no-one wants to belong to
I sure hope you have a hassle free warranty claim - members on here have had varying levels of success. Keep us posted on how your experience goes

I've kept track of mine for months now since they started out looking like light scratches as if a branch rubbed up on my top. In direct sunlight you wouldn't be able to tell; however, if you looked at an angle in low light they were very apparent.

All of a sudden a few days ago they've turned into straight up cracks.

Every MIC top will have cracks at some point. The construction of them has not changed. Just a matter of time. I’ve had 4 tops, so speaking from experience.

I asked my dealer the same question as OP's original post and was told "no". That said, I had no problem getting a warranty replacement for a new MIC top rear panel. (First replacement arrived at the dealer damaged, so they had to order a second one.)

No correlation at all.

Owners have failures in hot climates & cold climates.

Some owners have garage queens that never see dirt or trails and report failures.

Others who go off the beaten track and treat them like they stole them sometimes get cracks and sometimes not.

Had the same experience as you, @Anvilair1973. Was part of the “Nope, not me” crowd until the cracks showed up end of February. Ford replaced front and center panels, said rear was not a problem although it’s honeycombing. Less than 4k left on warranty, so when the new panels came in last Monday I drove straight to Line-X. Don’t want to have to think about it.

They are made out of cardboard.
They have razor sharp edges.
They have uneven panel gaps all around.
They have honeycomb patterns showing through.
They have cracks.
They have blisters.

Ugh far from perfect but it's been keeping the rain and snow out so far... despite all the cracks.

I feel like a lot of these tops are going to get some form of bedliner treatment down the road.

2023 4dr. Been lucky. Over 1500 miles off road. Hard top still looks good (despite the scratches). Roof rack taken on/off many times. Parked outdoors in partial shade
