Take a look at the Garagepass.co website. Business model is evolving. I think you can now just rent by the hour. It first started as a monthly subscription with no minimum required or lock-in
Cool! Will definitely wave. You gonna be with Dan? I was attempting to keep up with you on a winter run couple years ago. On the infamous “slingshot” recovery failure that was scary but ended up ok.
It’s DIY because you do the work yourself. You rent lift time from this young owner who is trying to start a business.
I hope he succeeds. Because he offers a service I need. So he has at least one customer. And if you notice, all 3 lifts were in use on a Thursday afternoon. Seems like there’s...
Oakland, CA has a new DIY garage space with reservable lifts. Garagepass.co recently opened. Nice space near the Coliseum. The owner is an attorney and car enthusiast. The place is insured and has fluid disposal permit.
I changed my diff and transfer case fluids there. And did a thorough...
I have the AAL tailgate mounted compressor. It’s more protected than in the hood. Plus it looks look. And don’t need to open the hood. And it’s quiter since it’s muffled. Works extremely well. Gives me joy every time I use it.
This is the reason I haven’t done the rear camera recall. Tailgate table + tailgate air compressor install would need to be removed. I wouldn’t want the dealer to remove and reinstall it. Heck I don’t want to do it!
Using a normal hose sprayer works pretty well too. Don’t know if it works as well?! But I was amazed at the amount of dirt/sand poured out of the frame holes. And thanks for the reminder! I’ll do it again today after my recent desert trip.
My experience snow wheeling on new AT4s (315/70/R17) was underwhelming and actually frightening. Twice while driving in mostly hard packed snow, somewhat wet, I fishtailed unexpectedly while driving around 30mph. I was able to save myself but slowed down after the second time. Driver behind me...
Yep. That’s what happens when you get old! And the internet happens in the middle of it. It’s an interesting experience being young enough to have explored/traveled in the analog world. And then to mature in the digital world. It’s all trade offs. Access and simplicity vs relying on physical...
I’m no suspension expert! I’d defer to @Snacktime. But my gut is if you feel the need to tune the suspension it’s probably best to go with Ride. I think I’ve only seen one thread where someone has attempted to tune or alter the 8112s. I’m very happy with what I get from the 8112s and have not...
I have the 8112s and just spent 5 days and over 500 miles bombing through eastern California/western NV desert and mountain trails, and quite a few stretches of class 5 trails on steep crawly shelf roads. Aside from the fact that shelf roads cause me to grip the steering wheel too hard (and...
Personally I like the Jtops because it actually goes edge to edge. Especially important in the front so there’s no glare peaking in. It’s also far more dense than the cheaper pure mesh and makes the interior far less hot. And I had it custom printed either with one of my dad’s photos. So for me...
