I just got back from the car wash and started packing for a trip. Noticed this when I opened the hatch. Pretty sure it wasn’t there last night (when I cleaned all the windows), but that’s a different topic.

Has anyone repaired a hard top with similar damage? How do I keep it from getting worse? What else should I be worried about(water getting in?)? I’m really hoping it’s not toast.

"Hope is the last thing that dies in a man" said someone much smarter than me.

It's toast. Maybe some Epoxy and paint the whole thing with a bedliner would save it (and make it look like shit too).

Take it to a body shop or a custom upholstery restoration shop and have them look at it. The upholstery shops do interiors, yes, but they are also familiar with repairing parts like that. For a different project, I've used a place called The Dye Guy in Delaware, near the university.

Your other option, if you are still in warranty, is to look for any tiny cracks around the side windows. Those are warrantable, regardless of your new big hole. You have to look very carefully - they may not be obvious.

Unsure if it would hold or not, but Bondo may be an option as well.

Bondo doesn't work on this. Two-part epoxy will work, but how do you make it "invisible"? Gotta cover the whole roof with something strong (automotive paint is not going to work). Bedliner, or similar will, but it's not gonna look good.

This is what I would do:
First, it's on the top of your rig so it isn't something you're gonna see all of the time, so I wouldn't worry about spending a thousand dollars fixing it. Get a magic eraser or something and clean up the scuffs. Get a marine epoxy repair kit and fill the hole to seal it. They make it to color match boats. Move on and live life.

Will that work with coated cardboard? It is for fiberglass. if that would work you could do a fiberglass repair. It might be time to pony up and get an aftermarket top. 🤷‍♂️

It's epoxy gel, it will stick to and seal pretty much anything rigid.

I just ordered some. I’ll report back. This looks like the best option short of replacing top which I really don’t want to do.
We’ll see how well I can do mixing colors

Do lots of testing. I'd even do different tests to try and match the texture. Just mix some up and spread it over cardboard or something, then wait for it do set a bit then press some rough sandpaper down on it to put in a texture. Test at different setup times to get it just right. I think you could get a pretty decent result, won't be perfect but it should be good enough.
