That’s not bad what axle ratios?
Mine will run 70MPh at about 2300 rpm in 5th gear, right under 2k in 6th… but the wind resistance is so high at those speed in 6th it sits at around 3 psi of boost and gets lower gas mileage that in 5th. 5th the boost gage will flicker but it mostly stays around 0

That’s 4.46 with 35” tires

Just on butt feel - the 2.3 is pretty dogged under 2k — even when it can build boost. But get it to 2.5k (and over) and it feels alive.

still less power and have to over work that little all aluminum engine when the 2.7 is built like a diesel engine , superior block
"Overwork"? Say more! Given that all modern gas turbo engines (everyone - from Europeans to Americans to Asians, to racecars) use aluminum blocks, Fords 2.7 being the one exception I can think of, and the vast majority of them have the usual modern life spans. Ford's iron block won't help with the parts that usually wears out in a turbos (and NA engines for that matter), such as pistons and the like, adds weight, etc. Fords iron 2.7 block strikes me as an quirky experiment with no obvious value. Throw in the known issues, plastic oil pan, mounting, etc. and it seems to be the more problematic offering in the Bronco.

Heck, even modern diesels (with now normal diesel psi of 30 or more) such as the BMW/Mercs, and GM's 3.0L "duramax" offering in their light trucks are aluminum blocks. It's the engineering/execution, not the material that matters.

Your right no tune will add aftermarket value

Run higher octane consistently, Jeopardize warranty , still less power and have to over work that little all aluminum engine when the 2.7 is built like a diesel engine , superior block , tune won’t hold value , 2.7 upgrade will

Lol, I did ask for it didn't I? :ROFLMAO:

Edit: Never mind, I must be seeing double (posts) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

We drove the 2.7 4dr BD Sas and loved it now I need to find a 2.3 to drive I took my F150 2.7 10 speed up the NY Thruway today and noticed the RPMs at 70 mph and it was 1600 RPMs gear ratio is 3:55. I imagine 4:70 would be 2500 which seems a lot to me?
Nope it’s closer to 2100 rpm at 75 mph 2.3 auto with Sasquatch

That’s not terrible, I will definitely have to drive both of them back to back

Ya I was kinda shocked I expected the 2.3 to be humming around 3000 rpm’s at 75 mph especially with 4.7’s in the rear end. But that 10 speed auto is doing its thing keeping the rpm’s down.

yes I’m well past my mustang GT years at 63 and service connected disabled vet I just need it to get me through snow mud and daily driving about 10 miles a day if that i doe like the Sasquatch look i may rethink it all and go BD SAS 2.3 still need to drive the 2.3 tho
As a geezer with a year on you, I went from a 460hp F250 (albeit towing a 30’ trailer use) to my measly 2.3, I couldn’t be happier. I just went thru 7” of snow to get to work, and it was just fun, for lack of words. I’m in an OBX SAS, and with 4A, it was so stable, yet I could have some fun in the open areas. Never a bog or lack of anything.
thank you for your service to this great countr!

I’m in a 4.7 SAS 2.3, and at 80 mph today, I was at 2100. That was in sport mode. Normal may drive the RPM’s a bit lower.

I have the 2.3 w/ manual transmission in a 2 door and it’s great!

However, I would not opt for the 2.3 w/ automatic transmission or in a 4 door.
Why? I keep reading this. It’s just assumptions based on ignorance. The 10-speed and torque converter keeps the little 2.3 right in the sweet spot of its power band in sport mode. The std trans only has 6 gears and no torque converter so the rpm drop is far greater when up shifting. I have towed 5,000 lbs with my 4 door Black diamond on 35’s with zero issues. Pulls that weight up any hill at 60mph without breaking a sweat. I do run 93 octane fuel. It isn’t as smooth as the V6 but so what it’s a truck with noisy mud tires.

LOL I went from a 2001 PSD 7.3 Dually towing a 4500lb 16' PJ dump trailer towing a 7500llb New Holland tractor in it to my used 2019 120K F150 2.7 10 speed and could't be happier. now can I be happy with a Badlands Bronco with a 2.3 & 10 speed? I guess well find out soon as we are getting ready to build and order one very soon.

I own two broncos, a 4 door 2.3 and a 2 door 2.7. You only live once, and if you’re only going to own one, get the 2.7, and add the ford performance tune. But if you had to get the 2.3, you still won’t be disappointed.

Great looking Black Diamond! I'm thinking about the same set up with a 2025 BD. Did you change the suspension or just add the 33's?

I agree. I also added the Ford Performance 2.3L Ecoboost Performance Calibration and S&B high performance oiled air filter. The HP & Torque gains was 35 & 88 respectively. And I went up on tire size with 33” KO3’s installed. 2024 2.3L Black Diamond

Well actually the manual has 8 gears, if you count reverse and crawl.
