Does anyone have any recommendations for a new tire that performs very good on road and in wet conditions?
Toyo Open Country AT3.
Falken Wildpeak.
Supposedly the K03 made improvements for wet conditions. Other guys have been saying that

I’ve been really happy with the 33” Bridgestone A/T Ascent tires I put on about 2,000 miles ago. Not as aggressive looking at the KO2/3, but better on pavement and in wet/snow and still capable for moderate offroading.

I have heard very good things regarding the Nitto Terra Grappler G3's.

My Nitto Ridge Grapplers are average in rain. Mickey Baja Legends were pretty decent in rain - as good as the Falken AT3S, but I'd rate them a hair better than my Nittos - but part of that could be they were a wider tire.

I did run the Territory MTs for a bit, and they actually were a really good on road tire for bad weather. They just loved to throw rocks.

Falken AT3S and AT4S - can't tell much of a difference in the rain - both do fairly well in all conditions. They are just a bit heavy.

Nothing beats the Michellen Cross Climate though, but they look ridiculous.

I don't think any of the AT tires are very good in the rain. I've had the BFG KO's, KO2's, KM3's, General AT2's, AMP AT's. Ohtani AT's, the old Sears AT's were probably the best. But 2 weeks ago in the rain, I have 37" C-rated KO2's that I got used and a traffic light turned red on me really fast so I had to hit the brakes big time. The truck came to a quick stop with no slipping, no nose dive (I have the 4WP/ProComp coilovers) and no loss of control at all. I don't think there is any difference with the KO2's vs other AT tires so it must just be driving habits or something else with some of these trucks. My old 2013 Tacoma 4 cyl could break the tires loose in the rain with a whopping 159 hp so a Bronco with 300+ hp should also break them loose if you drive too hard. Not a tire issue, it's a driver issue.

Didn't mean to hijack the OP but thank you for all the replies. It sounds like there are a lot of average choices that are all close to each other. I'm starting to wonder if its my vehicle and not the tires. These Nokians get fantastic reviews. I'm mostly concerned with the understeering. I will say that if someone jacked on their brakes in front of me, with proper distancing, I'm likely sliding into them on wet pavement. Maybe thats normal for a vehicle like this and I never really noticed on my K02's?

Maybe the additional height and nose dive from the 6100s is exacerbating the issue. For those that know, I'm at circlip 3, which I believe is a bit higher than a SAS setup. I wonder if I crank these down to circlip 1, I will notice a marked difference?

A couple other ideas I have is:
- My current size LT285/75R17 E1 is running at 39 PSI and not nearly up to the max PSI of 80.
- The width of these tires is an inch less wider or more than a 315 tire. Not quite pizza cutters but maybe adding to this poor slippery performance? Not any less wider than my previous 33" K02's though.

I was original drawn to these Nokian's because of the good reviews, great price on this particular size, and weight was very low.

It’s not a driver issue unless until you quickly become aware of the tire issue and don’t adjust your driving. Could be that the gearing and or 10spd trans combo knocks them loose with not applying power smoothly. Like to hear from manual owners or those without SAS or Badlands 4:46 gears. Either way, been driving 43 years and have owned many RWD pickups none on AT,s like these KO2’s and been surprised or needed to drive less than just careful. Maybe it’s my first RWD not normally aspirated turbo charged 4cyl and when boost kicks in it’s knocks them loose easier.

It's a known and documented issue across the board and BFG literally designed and improved the K03 to address the issue.

I would go around a slight turn in the rain at a speed appropriate for the conditions, no gas and the truck would slide, or feel like you were right on the edge of breaking loose. Or hit a slight bump in the road same conditions and i would get squirrely. Over a speed bump thats wet and break the tires loose. Over inflated, under inflated, proper inflated. Happened in a 2017 f150, 94 jimmy, and a friends 4runner. (Sounds like a dr suess book lol) And God forbid you goosed it. It was predictable but not in a good way. To the point i was slowing down well well below the speed limit and people would be coming up behind me pretty fast. They are amazing in the snow and dirt. Just beware in the on road rain. Trade offs.

That's how I feel in these Nokian Outposts. Are you referring to the way it felt when you ran K02's?

My 10speed will occasionally do a weird hang going from 1-2 and that results in a long delay and then TOO much power out of nowhere. So if you're at a stop and making a turn, that's when I notice an issue...

Yes the K02’s were what i was referring to. They were great for snow, dirt and mud for me. Rain on the road, not so much.

My latest research points to Falken Wildpeaks as being pretty good in wet conditions. Doing more searching for evidence.

I have run BFG At tires on my off-road vehicle since 1978. The first was the original BFG AT on my 1073 FJ55 Landcruiser. I don't know when they came out with the KO2 version but I have used them, including the ones on my Bronco. I have not experienced the bad issues described on wet roads. Of course, I know not to push them in corners, especially accelerating in corners on wet pavement. I am especially careful on concrete.

I have raced with SCCA for 32 years and had to learn how to race in the rain. Being smooth is the most important thing along with not putting too much power down. It is easy to make any tire look bad in wet conditions.

I did try Pro Comp MT tires once and went back to BFG. I will continue to use BFG AT tires as I believe they offer the best overall characteristics for pavement and off-road.

I did run Michelin LTX M/S tires on the street and BFG MT tires off-road for the best combined results but got tired of having to switch back and forth all the time.

Your results may vary.

I also run LTX Trail on the street that are great while also decent on dirt and rocky roads where rocks are not sharp edged. I'm curious about Pirelli offering though....Pirelli is usually cheap, fast wear and good performers.
